i agree with you, they came from the same area.
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. Heb.11:4
God recognized Abel's faith, more than what he was sacrificeing.
Abel knew he was a sinner,and had faith that God would forgive him,the sacrafice was a work of faith.
Cain on the other hand,( now this is me thinking,i have nothing to back it up),got his things together,fruits ,veg,ect. and made an offering to GOD.not recognizing the need for forgiveness. kinda like so many of us today, we get up go to church,read the word,say a prayer,and say i believe. with out the faith the LORD will not have RESPECT for our offerings.
