The death of the rich man and of Lazarus pictured a change taking place in the relative positions of these two classes. That this should be so should not surprise us, for time and again the Scriptures speak of persons as dying or having died though still alive, meaning thereby that a change has taken place in their lives. (1 Corinthians 11:30; Colossians 3:3; 1 Timothy 5:6; Jude 12.)
