Re: Gifted and ungifted persons, please help?

#35490...You absolutely DO sound very gifted to 'me'. Anyone who can create music,
write, and is artistic IS gifted. It's just like the saying.."It takes all kinds
to make the world go round". Most all of us are probably gifted in our own ways...
but sometimes that 'giftedness' is never allowed to surface...OR it is surpressed
by family or surroundings or just whatever. And then there are those people in the
world...that we all see almost every day...that just don't hardly have a snowballs
chance in the devil's hometown. Because of their surroundings...upbringing and other important things...they just didn't have in growing up..what a child needs to help them grow in to a 'sound' responsible adult. AND they can't be blamed for that.
It gets even sadder...because those people are going to bring other little ones
into the world under the same kinds of circumstances...and the vicious cycle
continues. Some people absolutely are more gifted than others. So let your own
light shine! :-)

I don't put any importance on IQ either. It has not been mentioned in our family
in decades until I heard the thing on the radio yesterday and out of curiosity
just looked it up. That's why we never told our younger kids. We wanted them to be
just whatever they 'chose' to be...we knew they had the most important factor a person could have in their life...and that was a good, close and very loving family.

If you'll kind of work with your sister...I'm sure you'll see a turn around. And in
lifting HER up...you'll find that it lifts YOU up. You sound like a very special
caring person. And the right person will come along for you, also. True love is
what makes life worth living.

Here's a short little piece out of my collection...I hope you'll type it up and
tape it on your frig and read it every day. If you will follow it's teaching...It will absolutely change your life. No doubt about it.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN HAPPINESS:
"The way to happiness: Keep your heart free from hate,
your mind free from worry. Live simply, expect little,
give much. Fill your life with love. Scatter sunshine.
Forget self, think of others. Do as you would be done by.
Try this for one week and you will be surprised."
As you read these words, you may say, "There is nothing
new in that." But yes, indeed, there is something new in
it if you have never put it into practice. When you start
to practice it you will find it the most astonishing method
of happy and successful living you have ever used. What
is the value of having known these principles all your life
if you have never made use of them? Such inefficiency in
living is tragic. For a man to have lived in poverty when
all the time, right on his doorstep is gold, indicates an
unintelligent approach to life. (author unknown)

There's a reading, 35490...that asks a few questions and I
can't remember them exactly...and don't have time to look
it up..but it's things like:
Name the 13th President.
Name the person who invented penicillin.
And it goes on to ask several questions like that...and of
course 'most' people can't answer them. THEN it asks...
Who was the last person to pay you a compliment?
Who was the last person to say "I love you" to you?
Who was the last person to pat you on the back and say "good job!"?

and it gives 4 or 5 questions like THAT...and of course, we can
ALL answer those questions. And the point of the reading is...
that "It's not the people with the credentials that make the
biggest difference in our lives...but the people with the real concerns."

Here's one more..and then I'm going to shut up and get back to
eldercare. :-)
EVERYTHING YOU DO MATTERS
Everything you do...matters!
The pizzas you ate last night,
that 'look' you gave your spouse,
the comment you made to your child a few minutes ago,
the church you attend,
the books you've checked out at the library...it all matters!
Every moment, you are doing something that matters!
Every moment weaves its way into the person you are...
Into the person you are still becoming.
The possibilities available to you in just a single moment
are countless. Over the course of your lifetime, the
possibilities are almost unimaginable. Every moment
is a treasure waiting to be opened. Nothing is small
or insignificant, because it is all a part of what makes you...you!
(author unknown)

Now you should be revved up enough to not only go out and help your
sister...but you should be making plans to save the world. :-)
I just really came back on to say you didn't need to feel silly. And
as usual..."I" got carried away, again.
You're a very caring AND gifted person...And I'm so glad you posted! kathryn
