I know this is an old forum, but I figured I'd answer anyways because I had the same problem. The itching and allergic reactions were the worst for both my cats and I. Presently I give my cats the Advantage 2 treatment. It's for fleas and live,but it also works for this problem. It works really well and I treat myself with Fenbendazole once/ month; it gets rid of the black specks and possible parasitic infections that may come along with the nasty bugs. Tweet
