Re: Fasting, metabolism, and preventing weight gain after the fast
I finished my 3 week
Water Fast this december- and during this fast, I lost about 10kg. Having started at normal weight, I can imagine my metabolism plummeted even lower than most peoples would have. I really struggled at first, during refeeding, with my bodies deprivation. Of those 10kg, in the first week I gained 4 back. Fat was accumulated in the strangest places, in the most uneven terms..While I managed to lose back the 3kg of the four that I had gained, so I had only gained back 1kg of the weight I lost..I had blood tests done, and I was not looking healthy- irregular heart beats, anemia, and my creatine kinase level was 5 times above that of a normal woman. I have since struggled with intense digestion issues and clear metabolism issues. So..This
Water Fasting business didn't come out, despite the glamorous weight loss (which I don't think anyone would have been able to keep..Trust, me it's HARD.) in my eyes, as rosy as some other posters would claim. In fact, I feel that my metabolism is so stunted after this fast that it was almost counterproductive. Losing weight slowly and responsibly would be much healthier for someone who wants to decrease body fat percentage.
