Re: Fasting, metabolism, and preventing weight gain after the fast

Hi Carina, this is 3 years on but could you share your experience on this?

I was interested in this and the prospect of "fast cycling".
I've read studies by intermittent fasting supporters which showed that the metabolic rate starts to drop only after 72 hours, by 8% and someone ( Shelton I think) noted that it never decreased past 20% unless in the case of actual starvation.
The metabolism drop is also seen to some peoples' ineffectiveness on diets, and linked to leptin, hence the discussion of using cheat days to raise leptin and tell the body that it is not starving, it needs to lose fat.

If you don't mind, could you share your results?
Leptin is raised the most by insulin (but I don't think anyone save body builders want that lol), through carbohydrate or fat or certain proteins.

I would rather do a cheat with protein though again I wonder about protein ingestion on a water fast...

any thoughts people?

hope it's okay reviving an old thread like this.
