Flu
This Flu Season:
Walk through the Fire with Reishi and Astragalus
(NaturalNews) This combo is formulated from two of the most famous Chinese herbs used for "Wei Qi" (the immune system). These two herbs are Ling Zhi (Ganoderma Lucidum) and Huang Qi (Astragalus Membranaceus). The two herbs are better known as Reishi and Astragalus. It is truly a formula for what could be called, "Walking Through The Fire." When it comes to keeping the immune system in prime enough condition to resist just about anything that comes its way, nothing works better than this amazing combination. Things like Echinacea, Colloidal Silver , large amounts of zinc and vitamin C, etc.(although good things in their own right) cannot hold a candle to this duo. We are talking about total protection.
This has been very successful in many situations such as having to be in the midst of infectious disease. For example, many people use it when they have to fly in commercial airplanes. (Pressurized airplanes are some of the worst disease spreaders). It is also used during flu and cold epidemics and is a real life saver when visiting someone who is sick or even when your spouse is sick. You can thumb your nose at "Flu Shots" forever with this simple combo. There is no proof that flu shots ever work anyway.
Now remember, this is a formula for prevention. If you are already sick, this combo will not do a whole lot for you. (Reishi by itself can help somewhat when you are sick). However the best thing for a flu or other virus or infection that has already been activated is a somewhat "rough tasting" tincture of Chinese and American heat clearing herbs called "Viral Defense". An article at Natural News explaining the heat clearing herbs in full with a recipe for "Viral Defense" can be found here:

So, let's take a look at these two herbs individually and the power that comes from the combination starting with perhaps the most amazing mushroom in the "history of fungi"; Ling Zhi Hong - The Red Reishi Mushroom. (Ganoderma Lucidum)
Remember the "scientific" findings in plants are not the "final picture" of what is contained in them. The author has had experience with gas chromatography and can tell you that for every identified constituent found in a plant there can be as many as hundreds of unidentified chemical wonders and we cannot "Play God" and say we figured it all out just because we have recognized a few of them. One has to simply look at the whole plants, not the "Holy Plants" http://www.naturalnews.com/holyplants0.html
That being said, we know Red Reishi is primarily composed of complex carbohydrates called water-soluble polysaccharides, triterpeniods, proteins and amino acids. Researchers have identified that water-soluble polysaccharides are the most active (Identified) element found in Red Reishi that have anti-tumor,immune modulating and blood pressure lowering effects.
Another major active ingredient found in Red Reishi are triterpenes , called ganoderic acids. Preliminary studies indicated that ganoderic acids help alleviate common allergies by inhibiting histamine release, improve oxygen utilization and improve liver functions. Triterpenes are bitter in taste and the level of the triterpene content contained in a product can be determined by the bitterness. As a note, The Chinese have determined all one needs to know about over 8.000 plants. This was accomplished by tasting bitter, sweet, sour, salty, pungent, etc. and identifying a plants energy without any "scientific" knowledge of its constituents.
Now let's take a look at Astragalus Root or "Huang Qi" (Astragalus Membranaceus) This herb also contains flavonoids, polysacchsarides, amino acids, trace minerals and triterpene glycosides such as the astragalosides I-VII. There has been several preliminary clinical trials in China suggesting that Huang Qi can benefit immune function. Recent research in the West has shown that the root can restore normal immune function in cancer patients. Patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy recover faster and live longer if given Huang Qi concurrently.
As an example of the restorative powers of Huang Qi, In clinical trials the use of Astragalus Memberanaceus on patients with chronic prostatitis has shown remarkable results. Total effective rate was 89.47% for the treatment group in the trial of a Chinese study.
So what happens when these two herbs are combined? To begin with, an almost fire proof shield of protection through a super magnified immune system takes place but the side effects are great too! Remember these are tonic herbs so energy, lung Qi and mental concentration are improved and it may even perk up your sexua| energy a bit!
Now, are you sure you wouldn't rather just get a "flu shot"?
