(NaturalNews) Comfrey (also known as knitbone) is often referred to as a miracle herb because of the fact that it has healing properties and contains a
host of vitamins and minerals. The nutritional value of this herb is almost comparable to many other green leafy vegetables, which we consume on a daily
basis. It has been used for many years to heal sprains, bruises and dislocations.
Comfrey contains many vitamins and nutrients such as Vitamin B12, potassium, sulphur, calcium, iron, phosphorus, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B-complex,
selenium, iron, germanium and mucilaginous fibre. It is also an excellent source of protein. It contains compounds called Mucilage and Allantoin, which are
responsible for its anti-inflammatory properties.
Comfrey can be used both internally and externally. It acts as an astringent (constricts blood vessels), an expectorant (helps to expel mucous) and an
emollient (helps to soften body tissues, including the skin). It also acts as a mild sedative and is also haemostatic (assists with blood clotting). It is
also able to help increase cell growth and heal injuries.
This miracle herb is also able to successfully lower cholesterol levels in the body. The mucilage content helps prevent both glucose and insulin spikes,
making it an excellent choice for diabetics. Not only is it a natural laxative, but it is also highly beneficial to those suffering from Irritable Bowel
Syndrome.
When made into a poultice, Comfrey can be placed over bruises and sprains to help reduce bruising and swelling in the affected areas. It can also be placed
onto scrapes and cuts as a disinfectant and pain reliever. When the leaves are eaten, they can help with internal bleeding, diarrhoea, haemorrhoids and
dysentery.
Comfrey is often prescribed for bleeding gums and piles. It boasts both antifungal as well as antibacterial properties. It is used to treat internal and
external ulcers. Burn victims can benefit greatly from being treated with this herb. It has also been used to help heal broken bones.
The healing properties of this herb are so potent that it is important to ensure that when using it
as a poultice, the affected area or wound is completely clean and free from dirt or debris. This is because Comfrey causes the skin to grow back so swiftly
that any dirt or debris left behind will actually end up being stitched under the new skin.
This herb is relied upon and used by most homeopaths and herbalists, as it is able to be combined and
mixed with a variety of other herbal remedies.

Eating cur cumin, a natural ingredient in the Young pHourer spice hunter turmeric (Garam Masala), may dramatically reduce the chance of developing heart failure, researchers at the Peter Munk Cardiac Center of the Toronto General Hospital have discovered.
http://www.phmiracleliving.com/spice_hunter.htm
In a study entitled, "Cur cumin prevents and reverses murine cardiac hypertrophy," published in the February edition of the Journal of Clinical Investigation, researchers found when the herb is given orally to a variety of mouse models with enlarged hearts (hypertrophy), it can prevent and reverse hypertrophy,
restore heart function and reduce scar formation.
The healing properties of turmeric have been well known in eastern cultures for some time. The herb has been used in traditional Indian and Chinese medicine to reduce scar formation. For example, when there is a cut or a bruise, the home remedy is to reach for turmeric powder because it can help to heal without leaving a bad scar.
Unlike most natural compounds whose effects are minimal, cur cumin works directly in the cell nucleus by preventing abnormal unraveling of the chromosome under stress, and preventing excessive abnormal protein production.
"Cur cumin's ability to shut off one of the major switches right at the chromosome source where the enlargement and scarring genes are being turned on is impressive," says Dr. Peter Liu, cardiologist in the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre and Scientific Director at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research - Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health. However Dr. Liu cautions that moderation is important, "the beneficial effects of cur cumin are not strengthened by eating more of it."
Dr. Liu, who holds the Heart and Stroke Foundation's Polo Chair Professor in Medicine and Physiology at the University of Toronto, says that since cur cumin is a naturally occurring compound that is readily available at a low cost, it might be a safe and effective means of preventing heart failure in the
future.
"Whether you are young or old; male or female; the larger your heart is, the higher your risk is for developing heart attacks or heart failure in the future. However, until clinical trials are done,
we don't recommend patients to take cur cumin routinely. You are better off to take action today by lowering blood pressure, reducing cholesterol, exercising and healthy eating," says Dr. Liu.
If clinical trials of cur cumin support initial findings of heart enlargement prevention, it may offer hope for millions of patients with heart enlargement in a relatively safe and inexpensive manner. Cur cumin-based treatments are currently in clinical trials for pancreatic and colon rectal cancer patients with promising results.
Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist at the pH Miracle Living Center, states, "cur cumin is a wonderful buffer of metabolic and dietary acids that can lead to hypertension and heart enlargement. The key to eliminating hypertension and heart enlargement is to reduce the levels are endogenous acids with better lifestyle and dietary choices. One of those dietary choices would definitely included the Young pHorever
cur cumin spice."

Both Sea Salt and rock salt were well known to the ancient Greeks who noted that eating salty food affected basic body functions such as digestion and excretion (urine and stools).
This led to salt being used medically. The healing methods of Hippocrates (460 BC) especially made frequent use of salt. Salt-based remedies were thought to have expectorant powers. A mixture of water and salt was employed as an emetic.
Drinking a mixture of two-thirds cow's milk and one-third salt-water, in the mornings, on an empty stomach was recommended as a cure for diseases of the spleen. A mixture of salt and honey was applied topically to clean bad ulcers and salt-water was used externally against skin diseases and freckles.
Hippocrates also mentions inhalation of steam from salt-water. We know today that the antiinflammatory effects of inhaled salt provide relief from respiratory symptoms (c).
Thus, 2000 years ago, Greek medicine had already discovered topical use of salt for skin lesions, drinking salty or mineralized waters for digestive troubles and inhaling salt for respiratory diseases!
The doctor and alchemist Paracelsus (1493-1541 A.D.) introduced an entirely new medical concept. He believed that external factors create disease and conceived a chemically oriented medical system which contrasted with the prevalent herbal medicine. Only salted food could be digested properly: 'The human being must have salt, he cannot be without salt. Where there is no salt, nothing will remain, but everything will tend to rot.'
He recommended salt water for the treatment of wounds and for use against intestinal worms. A hip-bath in salt water was a superb remedy for skin diseases and itching:
'This brine - he said - is better than all the health spas arising out of nature.' He described the diuretic effect of salt consumption and prescribed salt preparations of different strengths that were used for instance against constipation.
'In recent years there has been much publicity about the need to reduce salt consumption in societies where salt is added to many processed foods (Denton 1984, 584-7).
It has tended to be forgotten that some salt intake is absolutely necessary; that people need salt, sodium chloride, to survive: The chemical requirements of the human body demand that the salt concentration in the blood be kept constant. If the body does not get enough salt, a hormonal mechanism compensates by reducing the excretion of salt in the urine and sweat. But it cannot reduce this output to zero.
On a completely salt-free diet the body steadily loses small amounts of salt via the kidneys and sweat glands. It then attempts to adjust this by accelerating its secretion of water, so that the blood's salt concentration can be maintained at the vital level. The result is a gradual desiccation of the body
and finally death.' Roy Moxham
An eight-year study of a New York City hypertensive population stratified for sodium intake levels found those on low-salt diets had more than four times as many heart attacks as those on normal-sodium diets - the exact opposite of what the 'salt hypothesis' would have predicted. (1995)
Dr. Jeffrey R. Cutler documented no health outcomes benefits of lower-sodium diets. Salt Institute
A past president of the American Heart Association, Dr. Suzanne Oparil of the University of Alabama- Birmingham, said her personal view is that the government may have been too quick to recommend that everyone cut back. 'Salt restriction as a solitary recommendation for the population for the prevention or the treatment of hypertension.

An abundance of the ingredients in unrefined real salt are as synonymous with life today as they were a billion years ago before single cells appeared here. Lack of them is synonymous with birth defects, organ failure, decay, diseases, premature aging and death at a young age.
The problem with salt is not the salt itself but the condition of the salt we eat - refined! Major producing companies dry their salt in huge kilns with temperatures reaching 1200 degrees F, changing he salt's chemical structure, which in turn adversely affects the human body.
The facts are that in the heating process of salt, the element sodium chloride goes off into the air as a gas. What remains is sodium hydroxate which is irritating to the system and does not satisfy the body's hunger and need for sodium chloride. Sodium and chloride are two of the 12 daily essential
minerals.
In countries which do not alter their salt supply, heart disease and Arthritis are so rare that many doctors have never seen a case. Their salt is dried from the ocean by the sun. Many people believe that salt is harmful to the human body.
The truth is we cannot live without sodium or chloride-salt. From salt the body makes sodium bicarbaonate which is one of the essential compounds for alkalizing the food we eat. Also, from salt the body makes iron for producing the hemoglobin of the red blood cell.
Cl + O <=> Mn + H <=> Fe or
chloride + Oxygen = Manganese + Hydrogen = Iron.
There is not enough natural salt in our foods, so we must supplement our diet. When salt is withheld, weakness and sickness follow.
Try this experiment: Mix a spoonful of salt in a glass of water and let it stand overnight. If the salt collects on the bottom of the glass, it has been processed.
NATURAL SALT DISSOLVES! Salt that will not dissolve in water cannot dissolve in your body. Any foreign substance that collects in the body organs and tissues will eventually result in malfunctioning of essential body processes: heart disease, arthritis, hardening of the body tissues and arteries, calcium deposits in the joints, etc. Natural organic salt (saline) will not cause calcification in your body. Real Sea Salt can dissolve damaging calcium deposits in the body.
Science and medicine have tried to define the precise roles of salt in the healthy and diseased human organism. Blood, sweat, and tears all contain salt, and both the skin and the eyes are protected from metabolic acids from the effects of salt. When salt is added to a liquid, particles with opposite charges are formed: a positively charged sodium ion and a negatively charged chloride ion.
This is the basis of osmosis which regulates fluid pressure within living cells and protects the body against excessive water loss (as in diarrhea or on heavy sweating).
Sodium and chloride ions, as well as potassium ions, create a measurable difference in potential across cell membranes. This ensures that the fluid inside living cells remains separate from that outside. Thus, although the human body consists mainly of water, our 'inner ocean' does not flow away or evaporate. Sodium ions create a high pressure of liquid in the kidneys and thus regulate their metabolic function.
Water is extracted through the renal drainage system. The body thus loses a minimal amount of essential alkaline water. Out of 1500 liters of blood which pass daily through the kidneys, only about 1.5 liters of liquid leave the body as urine.
Salt is 'fuel' for nerves. Streams of positively and negatively charged ions send impulses to nerve fibers. A muscle cell will only contract if an impulse reaches it. Nerve impulses are partly propelled by co-ordinated changes in charged particles.
Fish from the ocean will die quickly if placed in a solution of refined salt and water. The sodium chloride, in its form as it comes from the refinery, is actually poisonous to them. Bottom line, is that yes it can be harmful to consume too much refined salt, but you cannot consume too much natural unrefined liquid real salt.
For more information on the healthful benefits of real mineral Sea Salt go to:
http://www.phmiracleliving.com/phlavor.htm
http://www.phmiracleliving.com/pHourSalts.htm
In conclusion the question, "does salt cause high blood pressure?" The answer is absolutely NOT! High blood pressure is caused by dietary and metabolic acids that are not being properly eliminated through urination, defecation,
perspiration and respiration. The truth is, you do not get high blood pressure you do high blood pressure with your lifestyle and dietary choices. Sodium chloride is the key to reducing
and normalizing blood pressure and maintaining healthy pulse rate below 70 beats a minute.

A study published last week in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that 29% of Americans now suffer from hypertension (high blood pressure), an increase of 4% among the population since 1990, reversing a downward trend that began in the 1960s. Moreover, nearly one-third of the over 58 million Americans suffering from the condition in 1999-2000 were unaware of their illness. The study also revealed that 40% of patients with the condition went untreated and over two-thirds “did not have their condition under control with antihypertensive drugs or other means.” (To read more on this story, see http://snurl.com/1sbt.)
[COMMENT: Hypertension, as well as cardiovascular illness in general, is an imminently treatable and preventable condition once its underlying causes are determined and properly addressed, something which antihypertensive drugs simply cannot do (drugs manage or control symptoms; they do not resolve their underlying causes). This study points out a number of things: the growing incidence of high blood pressure, the failure of drugs alone to treat the condition, and the need for the public-at-large to more regularly screen for it. For anyone interested in learning proven holistic treatments and self-care methods for dealing with hypertension, as well as stroke and heart attack, I strongly recommend Burton Goldberg’s Definitive Guide to Heart Disease, available at http://www.1healthyworld.com/ebooks/Heart-Book-Info.cfm.]

A study has linked high blood levels of vitamin C with lower blood pressure in young women.
The study involved almost 250 women. They entered the trial when they were 8 to 11 years old, and over a 10-year period, their plasma levels of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and blood pressure were monitored. Both their systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings, were found to be inversely associated with ascorbic acid levels.
Previous research had already linked high plasma levels of vitamin C with lower blood pressure among middle-age and older adults.

Dr. Mercola's Comments:
Uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension) is a serious health concern that can cause heart disease and increase your risk of having a stroke. It is especially dangerous because hypertension often has no warning signs or symptoms. Amazingly, the risk of becoming hypertensive is greater than 90 percent for individuals in developed countries, according to research published in the Lancet two years ago.
But the really great news is that over 85 percent of those who have hypertension can normalize their blood pressure through lifestyle modifications, whereas statistics show over half of people taking multiple medications for high blood pressure are still not able to manage their condition.
So if you have hypertension, or hope to avoid it, know that there are simple steps you can take to balance your blood pressure without harmful and/or ineffective medications!
Vitamin C and Your Blood Pressure
Several studies have examined the impact of vitamin C on blood pressure. Vitamin C is an antioxidant, which helps neutralize cell-damaging free radicals. Research has shown that antioxidants can help to reduce high blood pressure, possibly by protecting your body's supply of nitric oxide, a molecule that relaxes blood vessels.
The current study, published in the Nutrition Journal, found that both the systolic and diastolic (top and bottom) readings were inversely associated with ascorbic acid levels.
Specifically, women with the highest levels of ascorbic acid had a decline of about 4.6 mm Hg in systolic and just over 6 mm Hg in diastolic blood pressure, compared with women with the lowest ascorbic acid levels.
Previous research has also confirmed that adding vitamin C to your diet can help to reverse the degenerative process caused by free radicals, resulting in lower blood pressure levels.
Interestingly, vitamin C can also give extra oomph to other antioxidants, such as catechins, which are naturally occurring antioxidants found in green tea.
Green tea has been linked to heart- and cardiovascular health as it improves both blood flow and the ability of your arteries to relax. One 2007 study discovered that complementing green tea with either citrus juices or vitamin C increases the amount of catechins available for your body to absorb.
The possibility of a natural agent being able to lower blood pressure and help prevent heart disease is certainly worth noting, especially when you consider the damage that many, if not most, drugs can do.
The possibility of a natural agent being able to lower blood pressure and help prevent heart disease is certainly worth noting, especially when you consider the damage that many, if not most, drugs can do.
For example, beta-blockers -- a class of drugs frequently prescribed to manage high blood pressure and as cardioprotection after a heart attack -- have been found to cause type 2 diabetes by decreasing your insulin sensitivity. This, as you will see in the next section, is actually promoting the very problem you’re trying to solve.
Your best bet is to focus on getting a moderate amount of fruits and plenty of vegetables in your diet; the types and amounts being adjusted based on your nutritional type.
But if you decide to supplement with vitamin C, it is important to remember that it is a water-soluble vitamin and ideally should be taken at least three times a day. It is also best taken with bioflavanoids, which further enhance its benefits.
Please note that if you are highly sensitive to vitamin C, you may experience diarrhea. This is an indication that you need to lower your dosage.
That said, something else may have a far greater impact on your blood pressure than vitamin C and antioxidants, although they may help alleviate high blood pressure to a certain degree. It should be perfectly clear to everyone that these nutrients are not the cure for high blood pressure, but they can provide some protection while you address the main causes of your problem.
Insulin – A MAJOR Player in Regulating Blood Pressure
Groundbreaking research published in 1998 in the journal Diabetes reported that nearly two-thirds of the test subjects who were insulin resistant also had high blood pressure. This crucial connection between insulin resistance and hypertension is yet another example of how wide-ranging the debilitating effects of high insulin, leptin and blood glucose levels can have on your body.
Additionally, previous research has revealed that if your blood pressure doesn’t drop notably overnight, you run an increased risk of having cardiovascular problems. Here, the connection is also elevated blood Sugar (glucose) levels as elevated blood sugars can result in diabetes and other diseases which increase cardiovascular problems.
Hence, if you have hypertension, chances are good that you also have poorly controlled blood Sugar levels. The two problems often go hand in hand.
And if your hypertension is the direct result of an out-of-control blood Sugar level, then normalizing your blood sugar levels will also bring your blood pressure readings into the healthy range.
How to Reduce Your Blood Pressure Without Dangerous Drugs
Typically, optimizing your diet -- which will normalize your insulin levels -- is the most effective route to return your blood pressure to normal levels.
Cardiovascular exercise and tools like the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), which helps negate the effects of stress on your life, are also important.
Other recommendations that can help bring your blood pressure under control include:
~ Eliminate or limit grains and sugars from your diet – This alone will lower insulin
levels and normalize blood pressure in about 75 percent of people
~ Eliminate or limit caffeine
~ Consume healthy omega-3 fats, such as krill- or fish oil
~ Get a daily dose of sunshine to optimize your vitamin D levels -- Sun exposure
causes your body to produce vitamin D. Lack of sunlight reduces your vitamin D
stores and increases parathyroid hormone production, which increases blood
pressure. Vitamin D deficiency has also been linked to insulin resistance, which
can raise your blood pressure
~ Get a good night’s sleep
~ Get plenty of exercise
In addition to vitamin C, other natural supplements that can help improve your blood pressure include:
Grape seed extract – another powerful antioxidant that has been shown to
reduce blood pressure by an average of 8-12 millimeters. The antioxidant
capacity of grape seed extract comes from proanthocyanidins. Scientific
studies have shown that the antioxidant power of proanthocyanidins is 20
times stronger than vitamin C and 50 times stronger than vitamin E.
Olive leaf extract – One recent study found that supplement users taking 1,000
mg of olive leaf extract per day showed a substantial dip in their blood pressure,
in addition to lowered levels of LDL cholesterol. The active agent responsible for
the hypotensive action of the olive leaf is oleuropein, which acts as an
antioxidant and helps relax and dilate your blood vessels

Research shows that boosting levels of potassium in the diet may lower a person's risk of developing high blood pressure and may decrease blood pressure in people who already have "hypertension."
High blood pressure remains the chief reason for visits to doctors' offices and for prescription drug use in the U.S., two researchers from Nashville, Tennessee note in a special supplement to The Journal of Clinical Hypertension this month.
Dr. Mark C. Houston, from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Dr. Karen J. Harper from Harper Medical Communications, Inc. in Nashville, also point out that a healthy intake of potassium is thought to be one reason why vegetarians and isolated populations have a very low incidence of heart disease.
In isolated societies consuming diets low in sodium and high in fruits and vegetables, which have and therefore high levels of potassium, hypertension affects only 1 percent of the population, they note. In contrast, in industrialized societies, where people consume diets high in processed foods and large amounts of dietary sodium 1 in 3 persons have hypertension.
The typical American diet contains about double the sodium and half the potassium that is currently recommended in dietary guidelines. Low potassium intake is thought to contribute to the prevalence of high blood pressure in Americans.
Based on their review of published studies on the topic,
Houston and Harper say if Americans were to boost their potassium intake, the number of adults with known high blood pressure could fall by more than 10 percent. In 2006, the American Heart Association issued new guidelines calling for Americans to get 4.7 grams per day of potassium.
"An increase in potassium with a decrease in sodium is probably the most important dietary choice (after weight loss) that should be implemented to reduce cardiovascular disease," Houston and Harper contend.
Some studies also show that diets containing at least 500 to 1,000 milligrams magnesium daily and more than 800 milligrams of calcium daily may help lower blood pressure and the risk of developing high blood pressure.
"A high intake of these minerals through increased consumption of fruits and vegetables may improve blood pressure levels and reduce coronary heart disease
and stroke," Houston and Harper conclude.
According to Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist at the pH Miracle Living Center, "the body uses sodium to produce magnesium and potassium and potassium to produce calcium. Increased amounts of colloidal unprocessed mineral salts of sodium have shown to be helpful in lowering blood pressure when high and increasing blood pressure when low. The greatest healthful impact that colloidal mineral salts of sodium, magnesium, potassium and calcium have on the heart is to reduce the number of beats per minute to a more healthful level - generally under 70 beats per minute.

(NaturalNews) The impact of high blood pressure places millions of Americans at significantly increased risk from cardiovascular disease and sudden death
from a heart attack. Big Pharma and modern medicine are quick to prescribe a vast assortment of pharmaceuticals that fill the coffers of the drug giants
and have no effect on true cardiac risk. Publishing in the journal
, researchers found that a natural extract from the olive leaf plant can effectively lower blood pressure without the devastating side effects experienced
by many placed on a lifetime of synthetic pharmaceuticals.
Hypertension is one of the most devastating conditions that currently affects more than 50 million Americans. High blood pressure slowly and silently
degrades the integrity of our vascular network of vessels and arteries, ultimately leading to heart attack, stroke and vascular dementia. Traditional
medical practice calls for the administration of multiple pharmaceuticals that further degrade health and carry a long list of damaging side effects.
Researchers found that olive leaf extract taken at a dose of 500 mg twice per day naturally lowered blood pressure in Stage 1 hypertensive patients better
than prescription ACE-inhibitor drugs. The study authors noted that extracts from leaves of the olive tree
Additionally, researchers found that the groups of subjects taking the olive leaf extract demonstrated significant improvements in triglyceride levels, a
positive benefit not seen with the pharmaceutical group. Although the specific
lowering action of olive leaf extract is not known, the study designers believe it is related to the active compound in the leaf known as oleuropein.
Oleuropein acts synergistically with other chemicals in the plant to
Further scientific evidence supporting the powerful impact exerted by the olive plant is provided by researchers published in the journal
. The study found that polyphenol rich, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil boosted levels of an antibody in the
that neutralizes oxidized LDL cholesterol, which is implicated in the formation of coronary plaque. This significantly reduces the risk from
atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries and from the progression of coronary artery disease.
Researchers again found that the antioxidant polyphenols oleuropein and caffeic acid found in olive oil exhibited powerful anti-diabetic,
anti-atherosclerotic and anti-inflammatory properties. In response to increased dietary consumption of the polyphenols, the study found that critical
immune response mechanisms were stimulated and deadly LDL oxidation was retarded.
Olive oil consumption was shown to yield reduced levels of systemic inflammation and a reduction in arterial plaque formation. Health-minded individuals
will want to include 25 ml (just under two tablespoons) of extra virgin olive oil daily to provide maximum cardiac health benefits.

(NaturalNews) Increasing incidence of high blood pressure continues to be the most significant factor in death from a heart attack and advancing
cardiovascular disease. Elevated blood pressure readings cause thickening of the coronary arteries as micro-cracks develop that the body attempts to
correct with deposits of coronary plaque. Overweight and obesity, smoking, physical inactivity and stress are known contributing factors to the
hypertension epidemic. Researchers publishing in the
found that the imbalance of potassium to sodium in the diet is a significant factor driving high blood pressure. Maintaining an optimized ratio of 2:1
(potassium to sodium) by cutting salty processed foods and increasing natural fruits and vegetables is shown to significantly lower out of control blood
pressure readings.
Potassium from natural food sources has been rapidly depleted from the typical diet due to the dramatic rise in sodium-laden processed foods over the past
half century. Combined with a reduction in raw vegetables and fruits that are excellent sources of potassium, the balance of potassium to sodium in the
diet has shifted from an ideal ratio of 2:1 to a blood pressure raising rate of 2:3. Current potassium intake is fully one-third that of our generational
ancestors and is attributed to the skyrocketing increase in high blood pressure incidence and associated cardiovascular risk.
Researchers examining the potassium intake across 21 countries including the US found that average daily consumption of the mineral ranged from 1.7 to 3.7
grams, well below the recommended daily allowance of 4.7 grams. Similarly, sodium consumption averaged 5 grams per day with many individuals taking in as
much as 9 to 12 grams. The recommended sodium intake is 2,400 mg daily and 1,500 mg or less is suggested for those with established cardiovascular risk
factors.
The study found that only 20% to 30 % of the adult population maintains normal blood pressure readings. The study authors found
The study concluded that increasing potassium in the diet has a significant effect on lowering
and is equal to the effect seen by lowering sodium consumption. Higher potassium intake from natural sources including avocados, spinach, carrots and
tomatoes and elimination of sodium-infused processed foods (snacks, soup and fast food) can combine to lower systolic
pressure readings by 5% to 7%. Improving this single risk factor could reduce hypertension rates enough to dramatically lower cardiovascular risk and heart
attack deaths.
