Re: Day 8 - stomach acid confusion
I wouldn't pay attention to the above comment that "technically, you're not fasting." I know that complete abstinence is the prevailing wisdom, and it may *technically* be true, but *practically* I believe it to be irrelevant.
I am on my life's third water fast. The first lasted seven days, the second lasted ten days, and right now I am on day 9 of my third fast and intend to break my last record. During this last fast I have taken a probiotic most days, some psyllium husk to ease elimination (contains a small amount of carbs) and even some Yerba Mate (without
Sugar of course-- contains caffeine) in the morning to ease my boredom. What I can tell you is that my detoxification symptoms have been going strong with no interruption as far as I can tell.
I thought about this, and it only makes sense. The body, like any other animal's, has developed the fasting cleansing mechanism over millions of years of evolution. A million years ago, when our ancestors were wandering through the wilderness, if they hadn't eaten anything in five days, it didn't matter if they found a lone bush with a handful of berries on it. They ate it, sure, but that didn't mean the body threw a party. The body is too smart for that. It processed them, continued its cleansing mechanism, and then, when nothing else came in for hours, it continued as if nothing had ever happened.
In other words, I think your body went over the "speed bumps" of your Senna tea and probiotic capsules like a Lamborghini going over a bug at 100 miles per hour.
