It is not stomach acid. It is toxins released from the liver, gall bladder and elsewhere maybe that end up in the stomach on the way out. The mouth is closer than the other exit so when there's a lot of gunk in there it is natural for it to seek the quickest way out. After all it doesn't belong there. Whatever stomach acid is present would only be there to process the bile on the way through, the normal digestive process is not going on and without food to stimulate it the stomach is not ever 'churning in its own acid' during a fast.
