Re: The War against Dientamoeba fragilis
Yahia,
I did 10 days of 400mg x3 of Secnidazole and 100mg 1x daily of doxycycline. This was recommended as a treatment by Jackie of
http://www.badbugs.org.
I had read about the success of 1 2g dose of secnidazole, but opted for Jackie's "overkill" approach. It is now the second day after finishing the drug regimen, and I can report that I really feel no better. I just took some probiotics in order to rebuild my intestinal flora. If the D. Fragilis is indeed exterminated, the probiotics should only do good things.
It doesn't seem that the drugs helped my symptoms, even in the least. In fact, it's all seemed a bit worse. I don't know what the hell. I'll soon be re-examining my stool to see if the target remains. If the D. Fragilis is still present, it's one tough son-of-a-bitch. I'll have to try iodoquinol after that. If it is no longer present, then I may have other problems.
I've been investigating the link between intestinal
parasites adn heavy metal poisoning. I've enjoyed tuna as a low fat protein source for many years, and I have 4
Amalgam fillings as well. The neurological symptoms I've had are a curiousity, as they don't appoear to a prevalent symptom of D. Fragilis infection.
Anyway, yes, I'm taking S. Boulardii: 5 billion units per capsule, 2 capsules per day. I'm using garlic whenever possible.
I'll be posting soon with the results of my stool test.
