Have you all tried a diet very low in carbs to help cope with the symptoms of Dientamoeba fragilis infection? My daughter has this parasite and I read that it feeds on carbohydrates. So whilst her doctor was busy disbelieving it to be a problem, I took her off carbs and her symptoms dramatically reduced. It is challenging, but it makes her life bearable.
My thoughts are to try reducing the size of the population through minimising carbohydrates, and then treating with a drug that can potentially kill them. The doctor prescribed Metronidazole which has a 20-30% failure rate, but I am also going to try combination therapy with natural anti-parasitics at the same time as keep her carbs low. Fingers crossed.
