Re: Temperature control.

Hi J!! Have missed you/good to see you/how are you? After reading your (intriguing) post, couldn't help but want to look into it more. Have you read or are you familiar with any of this:

http://www.magazine.ayurvediccure.com/herbs-for-hypothalamus/

The hypothalamus links the nervous system to the endocrine system via the pituitary gland (hypophysis). The hypothalamus is located below the thalamus, just above the brain stem.

This brain region occupies the major portion of the ventral diencephalon. It is found in all mammalian brains. In humans, it is roughly the size of an almond.

Herbs for hypothalamus no 1 – Coleus forskohlii (Coleus) – To date, there have been more than two clinical studies examining the effectiveness of forskolin as a weight loss aid. Only one has been subject to peer-review and published in a medical journal. This clinical study also observed forskolin’s role in significantly increasing lean mass, bone mass, and testosterone in the subjects involved. This research has led to companies marketing forskolin as a Bodybuilding supplement.

Herbs for hypothalamus no 2 – Crataegus spp. (Hawthorn) – Many species and hybrids are used as ornamental and street trees. The Common Hawthorn is extensively used in Europe as a hedge plant. Several cultivars of the Midland Hawthorn C. laevigata have been selected for their pink or red flowers. Hawthorns are among the trees most recommended for water-conservation landscapes.

Herbs for hypothalamus no 3 – Lobelia inflata (Lobelia) – Lobelia inflata has a long use as an entheogenic substance. The plant was widely used by the Penebscot Indians and was widely used in the New England even before the time of Samuel Thomson who was credited as discovering it. Indian Tobacco is still used today. The most potent part of the plant is the seed as it contains the most lobeline, the main ingredient which gives the plant its psychoactive property.

Herbs for hypothalamus no 4 – Olea europaea (Olive leaf) - Olive leaf is the leaf of the olive tree (Olea europaea). While olive oil is well known for its flavor and health benefits, the leaf has been used medicinally in various times and places. Natural olive leaf and olive leaf extracts (OLE), are now marketed as anti aging, immunostimulators, and even Antibiotics without any proof of efficacy.
