Re: How Much Is Too Much?
hi Raine,
i was just reading this whole thread, and i want you to know that i FULLY support your spiritual philosophy, and i find it beautiful that you pray before, during, and after eating! if people find the idea of praying while eating somehow distasteful, maybe they can think of it in Zen Buddhist terms, as a simple "eating meditation"... a meditation done to focus on the moment, and to focus on being grateful for every single mouthful of our food and for every single breath we take, etc. it's my belief that any time we pray, be it for something relatively small or something as big as the universe, it all comes from a place of gratefulness, and what we are really praying for is inner peace and contentment, (which is what the universe ultimately wants for us). so OF COURSE God (or whatever term you want to use) cares!!! Spirituality and Religion can be two entirely different things, and people who speak out against spirituality just because of the negative connotations of "religion" are simply throwing the baby out with the bath water!
it's my personal goal to not only pray while eating, but to be in a constant state of prayer... because then and only then can we hope to feel the bliss and calm that we all need and want more than anything else in this world. without this, we are doomed to misery... some people think they prefer misery, and that's their choice. but for people like me and you, we choose to step out of the world of illusion so we can focus on happiness. here's to praying and taking the necessary steps to self-realization :)
your friend,
Bella
