Have you tried racewalking?
Some call it speedwalking.
You sling your arms and put one foot directly in front of the other.
Running a 12 minute mile burns about 480 calories whereas racewalking
burns 530 calories. Running exerts 3.5 lbs of body weight on your knees
and feet. Racewalking only exerts about 1.6 lbs.
Of course some people have a hard time getting used to the foot directly
in front of the other so that walk in anormal way and still sling their
arms.
I went from 254 lbs to 211 lbs in 2 months using this technigue 15 years ago.
But as I got to racewalking an eleven minute mile my weight went to 232 lbs.
I also was using small hand weights. I felt like a boxer.
I was going 4 to 5 miles 6 days a week using headphones with music.
The added weight was solid leg muscles.
