Re: fasting & energy
I know a lot of people here are on a raw food kick.
There are some things to remember.
First, Upton Sinclair explained some of the difficulties with the raw food diet. It took meat to restore his cognitive skills.
Second, we have canine teeth. Whether you believe in evolution or creation, somehow, humans ended up as omnivores.
Third, our Creator, Jesus Christ, not only ate meat himself, but also fed it to his followers. The Bible also tells us that not eating meat is a sign of spiritual weakness. Meat is to be taken with thanksgiving.
Fourth, there are vegetables, and maybe fruits for that matter, that release different nutrients when cooked. Also there are staples that must be cooked, such as rice and grains.
Instead of a raw food diet, how about simply a healthy food diet. Obviously avoiding processed foods, produce that is not organic, and meats that have been subjected to unnatural hormones will go a long way.
The body is designed to deal with a lot of garbage. If fasting restores the body to health, and if you fast on a regular basis, it should be much easier to stay on top of your health without having to turn to an extremest diet.
