fasting & energy

this follows on a bit from bella lucia's posts about weakness and lack of energy during fasting...

i know that many people say that they feel highly energised while fasting - but i guess this may depend on a person's state of health before they fast? i do get bursts of energy but this always segues into another healing crisis (which i know is supposed to be a good sign but it doesn't always feel that way - heh heh).

i read a testimonial from a woman on amazon.com a while back regarding one of dr Herbert Shelton 's books (sorry, i can't find the source again). she said that she fasted at dr shelton's retreat in the 70s for 21 days and healed her lupus. however she also said that it did not restore her energy - this happened after the fast through an assiduous diet of juicing, mostly raw foods and proper food combining.

so i guess my question is this: is it a given that you should feel energised during a fast? or in some cases does this happen during (proper) refeeding?

i am on day 12 right now and feeling pretty blah and planning to fast to completion. prior to this fast, i consulted with a natural hygiene doctor in sydney who estimated that this fast would be about 21 days in duration in order to heal effectively.

thanks!

- lulu
