Re:
Sorry had to step away for a bit
I actually do not know my pastors view on this passage I have not debated him on that one yet. Yes we do not think the pastor is all knowing in our church, he is our shepherd (and a good one) but he can be wrong.
Back to the subject
accomplished is also translated as fulfilled.
It is not any type of stretch to think this is the proper understanding of the passage.
Col 2 says the debt of the law was nailed to the cross. It was fulfilled at that point.
Jesus was specifically speaking to the Jews. Paul to the gentiles, I am sure somewhere in my family tree someone dressed in animal skins, and drank blood in some pagan ritual. I am 100% gentile Paul was the dominate writer to the gentiles. Once again we must understand the context when we read.
Romans 8:
2For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin,1 he condemned sin in the flesh, 4in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit
The law is defined in Romans 5 by causing death by sin
Scripture is filled with references of Christ's death fulfilling the law.
I have shown you these scriptures. I will not continue on this point
The entire book of Galatians deals with this issue
God can soften your heart to accept the truth of scripture and you can receive it.
Or it can be seed on rocky ground.
I will be happy to continue the debate but we have exhausted this point in the debate.
the Scripture speaks for itself
