Now, here is a “blunt” answer to your problem!

You can’t swim to him and try to rescue him! You will both drown!
He is in the ocean so he needs to learn swimming really soon, no matter what his troubles are!
You stay put as a buoy in the ocean. Do not change!
He will learn to swim and will head towards you in time!

All you can do is to let him know that you are waiting. It is up to him to do the learning!

If you start swimming toward him, you are swimming a long time!

I talk from experience. I didn’t have kind hearted people like you to give me encouragement either!
He will do it if he loves you!
