Re: Chalcid Wasp?

Hello, Katherine.

Re:
"
The question is did something bite me that was infested with this guy and then did that also hatch in me
"

I think it's possible.

"
- seems pretty far fetched.
"

Maybe it's not a 'far fetched' possibility at all.

"
Or, did it just somehow land on me when I was collecting "samples". Or, was it misidentified.
"

All of those are possibilities. If experts identified it positively as that insect mentioned, maybe the identification was correct because entomologists are very focused on detail by nature, but of course an invalid id could have resulted anyway, particularly if they were trying to "get rid" of you.

It seems to me like you need many questions answered yet.

"
I'm no bug person, but looking at it's feathery appendages ... I'd say it can't fly or burrow... I'm thinking it must swim. But, then again, I'm no bug person.
"

Exactly. No way to be sure either way at this point. You need more information, in my opinion.

"
My husband saw this on a better microscope than I did. His comment was that to him it looked like a metallic green bee. My PCP kept seeing metallic material of some sort in the weeping sores I have. She had (has) no idea why. It's all a mystery!

Thanks for your thoughts! Katherine
"

Even if the bug hadn't been identified as a 'parasitoid' organism, my thoughts would focus on trying to find "something else" that could assist this bug into your organism in the first place, if in fact it's not a casual contaminant [this bug] and if in fact it's colonized your body. Where in the body was this bug observed, in which sample?

My next action would be trying to find more of them, for a 'sequence of validation', as I call it.
