I decided to start Sheldon's method today and will keep posting my progress.
I am just back from my 5th flare-up and still have loose stool with little blood mucus in it. Feeling burning pain at anus.
I bought the following: 1. bulb ear syringe 2. Vitamin Shoppe E-400iu 3. distilled water.
My UC history. I am 36, male. I am diagnosed UC in October, 2005. I could vaguely remember that I had a food poison 3 years ago and developed allergy since then, don't know if it all starts from back then. Flare-up happens every 2 months, now just done with my 5th one. Symptoms are bloody diahrea, burning pain at the anus, urgency to the restroom. 3 BMs at remission, 6-8 during flare-ups. Taking colozal, ferrex, entocort, levinquin. My symptoms seems got stopped after I took antibiotics, or lexatives. The medication doesn't seems helping me at all. I take lots of fruit or fruit juice daily for 3 years before I was diagnosed, that might be part of the cause. I don't have weight loss, and have an atheletic life. The strange thing is that when I was at outting with friends for a whole day, I don't feel going to the stool at all, only once a day all the time. This gives me the impression that my urgency to the stool is somehow related to my emotion.
Colozal doesn't help to control the symptom at all. Entocort gives me pimples on face, neck and chest 3 days after I took them. I do noticed that eating brocolli helps to firm my stool.
======== day 01 =========
Nothing dramatic happened. I ate broccoli, carrot, cauliflower. Still see a tiny bit of blood in stool, a bit urgency, 3 bm in the morning, but none after that till late night now. I played some ball games the whole night. Like always, if I am playing sports or doing something walking or running or busy, I never feel going to the stool. Anyway, day01 seems usual. I have patience to wait and see. Thanks to Sheldon answering my email.
======= day 07 ========
I started to eat some onion and cucumber minced with scrambled eggs, fried with olive oil in the morning. And I constantly feel hungry, so have to bring 2 meals to work everyday. My meals are all veges first quick boiled in hot water then fried. I haven't find a good steamer to start with. My choices are brocolli, cauliflower, carrot, mushroom, barley, brown rice, spinage, toufu. I tried once eating heated soy milk (organic) with corn flake (cereal boxed), and got an urgency to stool 10 minutes later, so I never touched soymilk again. I felt a bit weird on the 3rd day, feeling feeble, that's when I started eating 2 meals at work. Some days I felt more gas than the others.
Results: not dramatically improved, but improved somehow. I still see small signs of blood occasionally in the stool. It seems that my number of stools reduced to 2-3 times a day. I have to go once in the morning, and nothing more than liquid and gas came out. I guess some might belong to the liquid of enema overnight. My stool is formed by not firm.
I am taking 10 capsuls per night, and I am planning to increase tonight.
I am starting to introduce chicken meat, boiled with salt only. So, I could add some protein and energy. I am also trying to add more tofu, but not sure whether that's a good idea.
I am also taking multi-vitamin, and taking prescriptions, colozal, entocore and ferrex.
Now I feel that most of my urgency are caused by gas, and if I sit, it comes often, most of the times, I can walk it away.

Thank you for the post.Please send me the information on your vitamin E label.You are now eating some foods that will delay healing.No fried food.Cook the eggs in water then add the olive oil.Boil the vegetables in distilled water then drink the water.No tofu or corn flakes.No processed foods.Eat cold water fish or buy some omega-3 oil.Use only the foods listed on the diet list.Read the previous post.Take one multi-vitamin/mineral capsule plus 500 mg of vitamin C (ester C is best) plus one selenium capsule 100mcg.(synergy)
I usually recommed just walking for exercise.However,if your colon tells you playing baseball gives a positive result,listen to it.Your gas may be due to your new use of many vegetables.As soon as the vegetable fiber provides the proper environment for the growth of good bacteria,flatulance(gas) will not be a problem.Do not use more then 10 capsules 4000IU.Your colon will heal at that level.What instructions are you using?Use the instruction information found in the above listings titled Re ulcerative colitis cure-VITAMIN E ENEMA AND DIET CORRECT PROCEDURE R/N 7 months. This is a reply to # 67,775Label of vitamin: E-400 IU, d-alpha, Gamma, Beta, Delta Tocopherols.
I will cut tofu and use boiled eggs, and probably eat more steamed fish and chicken, and get a streamer for the veges. The challenge for me is that I have to bring 2 meals to work, I have to microwave them, I am not sure how much that will damage the already well-cooked veges. I understand frying as you mentioned is not good. What I did is boiling brocolli, cauliflower and carrot then only use the frying pot to mix them with heated olive oil quickly. Again, I very much appreciate your reply, I will look into the supplements you suggested.
A few more questions:
** Do you think adding fish oil capsules to diet is a good idea?
** I don't have distilled water at work, do you think purified water could be the second best. Searching at google for "distilled water" shows a lot of negative comments on intaking distilled water for more than 2 weeks. And boiling it with vege could extract vitamins and minerals out of them. Just curious, using distilled water in your case is just from experience or you have some theory behind it. And how strict would that be?
** When you say restrict intake of the grain, that doesn't count for barley and brown rice, right? Would it give better result if I reduce brown rice and enlarge the proportion of veges?

Cook properly at home the meals you take to
work.Vegetables,chicken,fish and liquids can be
carried in food containers and eaten at room
temperature.The microwave destroys food
values.Poorly prepared meals
will irritate the colon and delay healing.
If you are not eating cold water fish to get your omega-3 oil,use fish oil capsules.There are also many positive views on Google for drinking distilled.I have use distilled water for over 20 years and my health couldn't be better.The purpose of the diet is to prevent colon irritation.Many spring,bottled and tap water can have heavy concentrations of inorganic minerals(which your body cannot absorb and use anyway)and chemicals.
Any one of which can exacerbate an already irritated colon.Purified water is second best.Yes,cooking vegetables with distilled water does remove minerals and vitamins.That is the reason the diet instructions advise drinking the cooking water.Brown rice,barley and vegetables are excellent for colon healing and proper nourishment.Eat as many that you wish.Most people on the starting procedure have eaten a previous diet with little fiber(mostly processed foods).In this case,a gradual buildup to accustom the colon can prevent discomfort(gas etc).

1. I lost about 5 pounds since I started procedure. I didn't have symptom of losing weight from my colitis before.
2. I feel wanting to sleep more. Not as sobre as before when I got up in the morning.
3. I started to feel a bit sensation in bladder, had kidney stone before. I don't know that whether this is related to my diet change and procedure. Just trying to be "honest" to record everything frankly.
Last night I saw more blood sign in stool, got a bit worried. But today's stool is fine. My early morning stool was delayed to 10:30am, I can see enema remains with no blood signs. I don't feel going till 7:30pm. Hope that this is a good sign. My today's diet is brocolli with mushroom, spinage with tofu (will cut tofu according to Sheldon), I have olive oil in both.

MoreThis is a reply to # 67,773I had some symptoms of flare-up for about 3 times, but they didn't go further to server and last, normally got better the next day. I also found that adding potato is bad for me. So, I have to cut it off. I added chicken, seems not so well, I picked chicken drumsticks though, maybe chicken breast could make a difference? I boil the chicken and slice it when it's cooled.
I am using Puritan's Pride - 100% natural e-400 d-Alpha Tocopheryl USP ( on the facts, it indicates (as d-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate). Sheldon, could you confirm that this is the correct one?
I am also trying to limit my sports. My diet had a lot of steamed spinage and carrot. I will add more brocolli and cauli back, and planning to cut carrot and spinage one by one to see whether one of them is responsible to the recent bad symptoms I had.
I understand this might be a long fight, but I am determined to keep my patience and fight it all along. Sheldon, I appreciate so much for your dedication and help.Advertisement

This is a reply to # 67,790I tried to bring to the attention of the Webmaster about placing a note on the bottom of my original experience posting that the experience is not the correct procedure.No luck.It took me over 1.5 years to heal my colon because the diet and vitamin E used were not correct.Instead of months to heal.My knowledge was limited and of course 25 years age no web.Many people read no further then the experience posting and therefore are not using the best information.On the above listings,find Re:Ulcerative Colitis Cure-vitamin E enema and diet CORRECT PROCEDURE by sheldon 7 mon R/N Read the other listings for more great information.Next time you order buy the 1000 IU capsules and it will only be necessary to use 4 capsules for each enema.The correct vitamin E information is listed at the above site.For any minor setbacks,look for any favorite condiments you are using not listed on the diet sheet.Remember,you have been on the correct procedure a very short time,your colon is still in an irritated condition and any wrong food(not usually a vegetable or grain) will delay healing.Thank you for the posting.

This is a reply to # 67,791Thanks for the reply, I am actually a bit confused about the choice of Vitamin E to use. Could you confirm that the one I got from Puritan's Pride (in my posting) is the right one? In your other posting (//www.curezone.org/forums/m.asp?f=83&i=347), you mentioned that "natural vitamin E capsules containing (d-alpha plus beta,gamma and delta tocopherols". The one I got labeled 100% natural but doesn't mention anything about beta, gamma and delta.
I didn't eat anything other than the one I listed in my posting, I cook mostly by steaming, the only "wrong" thing I could think of is the potato and carrot, I didn't peel them deep enough, maybe.
I am planning to limit my diet for next week to only brocolli, cauliflower, egg white, brown rice and pearl barley with some canned tuna at lunch. I tried, if I steam them well in the morning, I can eat them warm without microwaving. Anyway, I am hanging in there and determined try this for 3 months. Hopefully, my experience could help someone else.

This is a reply to # 67,792Use the vitamin E you are now taking.However,on your next order send for d-alpha plus d-beta,d-gamma and d-delta tocopherols.Product#0551.They are 1000 IU,use only 4 capsules for each enema.The mixed tocopherols should be better.The d-alpha tocopheryls were previously used in the procedure.They are both labeled 100% natural.If you are getting stool form improvement,less or no blood and fewer bowel movements from you previous conditions before the procedure,it means your colon has adjusted to your new diet.Are they better? Eat your vegetables.Each has different fiber,vitamins and minerals.If you have no problems,you should eat the whole egg.You can be sure your posted experience will help others.

This is a reply to # 67,773I take some salmon (steamed, no ingrediant except salt) with brocolli and cauliflower last night then I see blood in my stool this morning. This makes me hesitant to add fish to my diet. But I do feel that I need more protein and energy from diet. So, I have to figure out an alternative diet.

Diet: Steamed brocolli, cauliflower. Water fried bitter cucumber (this seems something new but had good effect to me). Brown rice. Pearl Barley.
Good: It is clear that I've reduced my number of B moves. Less urgency.
Bad: Blood in stool, watery unformed stool.
Tips: Drink less water, more chewing job, a bit of taichi.
In the past 3-4 days, I feel that I was on the verge of flare-up. Blood at least once in the stool. Although I've restricted my diet to only steamed brocolli, cauliflower and brown rice, I can't stop the symptom. It got a bit better since yesterday. Today, I didn't feel going to the stool the whole working day. I had one after 8pm, still not formed with blood. I started to add boiled chicken to the meals. I also tried 2 half-cups soymilk (organic) yesterday and today, seems ok.
If I have 2 stools a day, one of them has blood, the other has. Based on my current condition, I am not aiming high. So, my goal of this week is to control my BMs to less than 3 times with less blood and urgency. My experience has put me back to reality that magic doesn't happen to everyone. I have to have the patience. I made myself a commitment for 3 month, I will stick to it and try my best.
I am waiting for the new Vitamin, with beta, gamma plus, to arrive to see if that will make a difference.

This is a reply to # 67,800Your body needs a well balanced diet to heal.Use the grains and all the vegetables on the diet list or others you prefer.Restricting your vegetables and grains restricts your proper mineral and vitamin balance and this will slow the healing progress.Try juicing many vegetables and then steaming and eating the pulp.If salmon(farmed raised?) gives you a problem eat sardines not the sauce.Canned Alaska salmon is not farmed raised with chemicals.Are you taking the vitamins listed on in diet instructions? Water is necessary follow the intructions.You should not be seeing any blood by this time.Good post.

I've decided to pause my procedure at this stage. I've felt that my current situation was caused by an infection in my colon introduced by the enema procedure. And the blood is still visiblable. So, I am stopping the procedure. I carry on the veggie diet and will see doctor next week. I'll determine what I will do next after that. So far, I believe that I've followed the diet and intruction pretty close, I excluded some food such as potatoes, etc due to the negative effect in my experience. But the result is clear that I am not a perfect candidate for the procedure. I am willing to try this again once my diarhea is brought under control. This is a reply to # 67,806I just received the #0551 vitamin E 1000, the color seems quite different from anyone I had before, marked with caremal color, like dark mixture. Just want to confirm with you that whether this is the one you recommended. I am restarting my enama. Also when you say I should eat all kinds of grain, what kind of grain do you mean, I thought your diet suggest stay away from grains, only eat barley and brown rice. If you think I can eat grain, how about the whole grain bread?

No bread,it's not on the diet list.Use all the vegetables,your colon should have adjusted to the vegetables.All the grains are good.However,use smaller amounts at first.The vitamin E you received is the right one.Read the procedure information again.It is very effective.There may be different reactions to some foods between people.However the basic diet is one that should give enough of a positive response that your colon can send you the correct message that can be used to judge other foods,removed or added,one at a time.Please post everything on your diet and differences in bowel movements.Advertisement

This is a reply to # 67,773This is a tough week. I was on diet of total steamed veggies and brown rice. But got blood in stool every day. I lost more than 15 pounds since started the procedure in less than 4 weeks.
My steamed veggies consists brocolli, carrot, turnip, cauliflower, zucchini squash, green leave vegetables, mushroom. I eat one whole egg every morning.
My bowel movement during the working day is only once, but I developped a lot of gas that could create some urgency. I went to stool once every morning just for some liquid to come out. I went once or twice at night. Last night, I went a couple of times.
I normally will not have blood in the morning, but start to see blood during day time and night. I went twice today during the day, first time, no blood, mixed with formed and watery, second time, some blood. I was wondering that whether this is due to the high fiber diet I am having that could cause abrasion to the colon. Since it feels like there were no blood, it only happen when colon pass something out.
I didn't call doctor for emergency since my appointment is next tuesday anyway. And I don't feel that I am having a severe inflamation even the blood really scares me.
Did anyone had similiar experience? Did most people get cured by this procedure during their flare-ups? Or should I take a different diet during the flare-up?
How should you cook the salmon and chicken? Do you grill them? Does it matter how I cook them, what should be avoided?
Eating every meal with vegetables, does mushroom, carrot, onion combined dish qualify for the vegetables, or I need to add brocolli? I am cooking these 3 together with cover pot, and it tastes good with just salt :)

You are doing the procedure correctly.You should have shown improvement.Yes the procedure is very effective during a flare.Mushroom,carrot and onion are fine but add other vegetables.The best method for Chicken is broiling in an oven in water in a covered dish.Or just boil in water.Grilling produces bad chemicals.Salmon should be bought in cans produced in Alaska.They are caught wild
and have no mercury or chemicals found in fresh farmed salmon and are reasonably priced.Or use sardines with out the oil or sauce.My best guess is that your colon is telling you that something in the diet is an irritant or an allergy.No,the vegetables high fiber has not caused any problems.Buy some buckwheat and use it in place of the grains you have been eating.If possible,juice your vegetables and steam and eat a smaller amount of the fiber.Eat just the egg whites.
What I am suggesting is a large food group elimination to try and produce a positive result.If possible,please post every day or two.Your postings give good information.

This is a reply to # 67,811In your post you asked if anyone gets better with this diet and vitamen E treatment. Are you sure you want the truth? I got much worse. My experience sounds identical to yours but worse. I use the restroom by no exageration 15-30 times daily. Sheldon seems nice enough to take the time to help, but I went through the same confusion with the foods in the diet as you did and he puts it off as if we didn't pay attention to his original post. Grains? no grains? white rice or brown rice which who knows! One week he told me no oatmeal the next he said it was okay.
I am doing better now that I have gotten away from his recomendations.
