Hey Belle!
Wow sounds like your day 4 is going really super well - esp if you can go for a jog... I was no where near that active dry fasting! Are you ready to transition into water yet?
No I'm not in US in in AU, living rurally for the last 5 years but I'm a city girl. Love my farm. Love this way of life and don't think I can go back to city! Which part of the states you in?
Yes great idea with the meal list. Meal planning is even better. That way your shopping/budget/and diet are taken care of on one piece of paper. And if your like me you will spreadsheet it! I love a good spreadsheet.... Lol!
Been reading a bit and I have also found out that as soon as a faster ceases to fast and eats carbs esp sugars, the liver fills up with glycogen again - which is a water substance which may add to post fasting weight gain... On top of water weight of like 3lbs... So don't be alarmed if 6lbs sneak back quickly! That's water, and glycogen...
I want to research if one can shrink the amount of glycogen our livers store in the first place - and if that's even beneficial or advantageous... Like I said I'm still journeying through myself. But I don't feel like carrying up to 2kg of glycogen is really a great thing.
I usually don't weight myself all the time, but dry fasting I'm a bit more cautious in case of severe dehydration, so I give myself an absolute minimum of 10% less than starting weight so I don't get too dangerously dehydrated...
In relation to acne... My guess is that it's completely digestion related. You said it happened AFTER your prolonged fast... Well something your eating is burdening your system. Either that or somehow the fast threw your cycle out a bit. You can try a hormone saliva test, to see where things stand - but if a long fast ceases the
Acne then it was a gut/digestion thing, and it means your body has decided it doesn't want/need something your feeding it post fast. Bodies do that. They become efficient and decide they are better off without something... But nuts can certainly do that as they are taxing on the digestion.
Wow! I've never heard fruit or garlic do that... Garlic is anti microbial in the gut and fruit has a tendency to ferment in the gut if eating wrong or not digested... Everything do far pointing to a gut disturbance Belle.
Fasting will clear out the gut nicely, but maybe after consider restoring your flora... Have your ever done a 6 week candida protocol? No simple carbs for 6 weeks at all starving yeast growth? It does solve lots of problems and it aids weight loss as a side effect... Basically complex carbs for 6 weeks (non sweet/starchy veg, and no grains).
I used to get jawline
Acne from pcos, but it's mainly gone unless I start misbehaving and eating wrong it stays abated... When I fast my skin glows because my liver kidneys and digestion have less burden - which shows I'm still needing a bit of work in these areas.
You may also want to consider when you refeed an
Elimination Diet to uncover what triggers these things. But sometimes it's not just invididual foods, but food combos... For me chickpeas with bread, or chickpeas too many times in a row makes huge pain and bloating like I swallowed a whole watermellon... But chickpeas with garlic and yoghurt once or twice a week is fine - yet hummos and carrot is days of agony... Very tricky stuff! Our bodies become very perculiar with age, esp the more we fast our bodies become more efficient.
Sorry for long post!
Have a great day!
And tell me how it goes with your transition into water...
For myself, I am transitioning into intermittent fasting of dry fasting probably about 17 hours a day... And eating fat and limited carbs the rest.
