Perhaps HV will address the fact that the blood can not be thinned. Are you taking any drugs that react with the blood as far as platelet aggregation goes?
In the true sense this is pretty much true. But the term of thinning the blood does refer to prevention of platelet aggregation.
Anyway, can platelet aggression/problem be treated naturally? Do you know?
Yes generally, as long as it is not a hereditary condition.
I still think it would be a good idea to get checked for platelet disorders, including low platelet counts. It would help to determine the best course to address the problem, and it could indicate other problems if there is a disorder. It is also a lot easier than guessing.
If i do a test, and discover it is low, do you agree with the types of iron they recommend, or is there a better way, this is for hv as well. They say it can take some months to build up.
I prefer plant based irons. They are not as readily absorbed as heme iron, but they are easier on the system. Nettle leaf contains iron and vitamin C, and yellow dock is pretty high in iron. It will take time to build up, especially with the plant irons. If you eat meats then red meat with some vitamin C will work much faster.
How much red meat?
I don't eat much red meat. Maybe a mince dish once a week. I tend to eat fish, twice a week, chicken twice a weeks and turkey twice a week, in small quantities.
Do i need to eat rare steak daily? lol
Some red meat 2 to 3 times a week would help. You can also have a Bloody Mary with your steak to help. Seriously a little alcohol does help with iron absorption. So does vitamin C. Tannins from coffee and tea and calcium will block iron absorption.
I have a serious kale and spinach addiction that rivals heroin, lol, I just can't get enough of it, but it is high in iron, I do make sure I have enough vitamin C as well, this helps with iron absorption as well.
Unfortunately spinach and kale are also a source of iron binding oxalic acid.
Regarding my spontaneous bleeds under skin on hands problem.
You said in another post something might be causing thinning of the blood.
I take no medications however. Are any of the herbs you suggest blood thinners?
The ginkgo you are taking is a blood thinner. And there are many other herbs that also have mild blood thinning properties including cayenne, ginger, turmeric, vanilla, lomatium, angelica (dong quai), mints, etc. If you are taking fish oil this also thins the blood. Dark green leafy vegetables help with blood clotting.
If it was serious would it not be on other parts of the body too?
Hands are an area that are frequently bumped making them more likely to develop capillary breaks.
I've seen photos of purpura and petchia (sp) and they cover large areas, on legs and back etc.
If the blood vessels are weak then even light trauma can cause this. For example this is often seen in people on Coumadin (Warfarin) which thins out blood vessel walls and inhibits clotting.
So far, it could be lack of nutrients, too thin blood, or platelet problem, or could be to do with my hypothyroidism somehow.
Yes, this is also a possibility. I posted a link to a medical journal abstract on this exact subject a few days ago. But this is why I think you need to get checked for platelet disorders.
Also I get them on dorsal of hands, fingers, knuckles mainly. I'm not getting them on palms. I don't know whether that indicates anything.
Again this is the most likely area to bump the hand causing trauma to the capillaries.
