Re: Ferritin levels
I supplemented with iodine, and as soon as I started doing this my ferritin levels,( which have been very low my entire life), began to rise, and are now within the normal range for the first time in my adult life. My serum iron levels are also low, but are unchanged since the time I have been
Iodine supping. I maintain my serum iron with diet, I do not take iron supplements.
My low ferritin levels were due to a genetic disorder that effects my pancreas and liver, I am currently involved in a research project, the scientists are trying to figure out why the
Iodine supping and the other minerals and herbs I have been taking, have effected this change. They have asked for volunteers to try these supplements, (others with the same genetic disorder) and have been able to repeat the results with two other people now.
Iodine seems to be the element that has the greatest effect. They say that they would like to publish in about 18 months, if the results they are now seeing continue. Once they publish they will then be able to get funding for further studies into these issues, interesting stuff :)
