Slept for 8 hours yesterday, without waking up once. Apparently I am sleeping so soundly that I don't even have to exile the cat to the back porch anymore. She hasn't been waking me up with her night-time shenanigans...
Gave myself a reward today for a fast well done... Went online and went shopping--for real! Got an email from Spiegel.com and went cruising in their "clearance" section. To make a long and amazingly thrifty story short (I am the QUEEN of bargain shopping), I purchased a long cashmere wrap sweater in scarlet, black silk Palazzo pants, and two silk cami's (ivory and brown) for $60.32!! That includes tax and shipping!! Total original purchase price was $226.00... Of course I purchased them all in a size 12, so if I'm not there by fall, it's not money well spent right?!!
Been eating lots of raw veggies, which is really hard for me... I am just not a raw foodie. I must have warm food in me or I just don't feel right. I also need protein and fat with a meal or I need to eat again in like, 20 minutes. I've discovered that I could eat a gig-normous veggie salad, but still feel hungry after an hour, or a poached egg on spinach, tomato, avocado and raw cheese, and be fully satisfied for many hours.
We're all built so very different. Don't let anyone tell you what's best to eat for your body. Follow what your body tells you after eating (Note, that's NOT what you crave to eat, but what the results of eating actually are).
For lots of people, especially those following the Mediterreanean diet, pasta is a beautiful thing. Health books are full of pasta and rice based meal recipes. Even the USDA Food Pyrimid says we are to get 6-11 servings of grain based food every day. Well, I can tell you right now, I know where MY morbid obesity came from! It was listening to these experts and not my own body. After I figured this out, I quit all grains and started to see a radical improvement in my health, mental clarity, and the lifting off of years of chronic depression.
Been concentrating on really pre-digesting everything, chewing like a cow chewing cud! I think this is really good for me in other ways too. Sort of like, wow, this is how long a meal is supposed to last!!
Noticed my hands and feet aren't cold anymore. Circulation much improved. Thank you, God!
Starting to re-think my "plan". After only one day, I am missing my rapid health improvements. My digestion sprung back so fast (completely digested and eliminated my meals from yesterday without any problems) that I'm thinking maybe I'm stronger than I thought and I should continue on with the fast. Right now, I am considering starting to water fast again after 7 days rest, instead of 21.
Beautiful day outside. Physical strength really returning quickly, so I am going to take advantage and do chores (laundry, hauling stuff to tag sale drop off site, bills, putting out resumes for new job, etc.) Even spent 20 minutes on Eliptical Trainer this afternoon without even noticing...
