Day Fourteen
A personal journey to health and freedom through water fasting

Actually, you know you've been fasting for a while when you open up a can of cat food for kitty and it smells utterly delicious....
Been fighting hunger pangs today. No, I don't think I have reached "completion" on this fast yet. I just spent the day searching for a better daily diet for after I finish the fast, reading recipes, looking at pictures of food...dreaming... Never said I was the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I think I finally found a "diet" that I can live with and thrive on...the "Paleo-diet". I'm surprised I haven't run across the "paleo diet" before now. It's basically what I eat anyway, now that I finally broke off my grain consumption/addiction. It allows extra lean meats, seafood, endless veggies & fruit, nuts and berries. About the only thing I can see would be different is giving up beans and legumes (which I really like, sniff, sniff), dairy and salt. Since I can obtain raw dairy products where I live, I think I will keep a little in my diet anyway (albeit much reduced from what I currently consume). As far as eliminating salt...what can I say? When hell freezes over. I'll take my water weight and wear it proudly, thank you...
Last night I was bemoaning my cat-shredded hands. It is really annoying because the wounds are located where I lay my hands on the keyboard, making typing and internet cruising much less enjoyable. I had an idea come to me. I remembered one time when I was in college, I went to Cozumel Mexico for a scuba diving vacation (and yes, I used to be thin enough to get into a wet suit...) Anyway, we were doing a night dive and I lost my balance trying to climb out of a reef lined shore. I fell on a sharp piece of reef that punctured a tendon in my left knee. (It instantly looked like a scene from "Jaws"...) I was then knocked back into the surf by another wave and struggled to make my way out. What that accomplished was a thorough cleansing of the wound by the ocean salt water. I never had to get stiches, there was never any infection. It healed up without any medical intervention at all (not counting the heavy duty pain killers!)
So, I decided to make a little ocean water in my bathtub by dumping a whole heck of a lot of dead sea salt into my bathwater. Then I soaked my hands, and the rest of me, for a good 30 minutes. Today, there is no bleeding, no red inflamation, the skin has stretched tight and mostly closed up (though still very tender), with no acute stinging pain. Amazing.
Well, got to go. Wednesday night is choir practice, and I just can't miss my aerobic workouts!
More later...
