A new beginning!
A personal journey to health and freedom through water fasting.

The reason I didn't start a blog earlier is because nearly everyone who fails at an extended fast seems to fail in the first three days. If you can make it through the first three days of the (usually very uncomfortable) switch from burning stored glycogen in your liver to burning the "dirty fuel" of your adipose tissue (fat), then you find a much easier time of it!
What I intend to do with this blog is to make a detailed record of what it is like to water fast, what I am doing, what I am going through, how I have prepared myself, how other people are reacting to my transformation, how I am mentally adjusting, etc. I have purposely made it non-specific. That is, I intend to fast "to completion", if possible. It is not the magic number days that are important to me, but the process of healing in my body. When my body tells me it is done, then I'm done. Not to worry though, I am anticipating my body to "crave" the sensation and pleasure of food, in time. I am prepared for that, and I realize that "craving" is not necessarily an indication of being "done".
I have also done much research on the school of thought called "Natural Hygeine". I truly feel this is one of the greatest tools for health and healing we humans can access for ourselves. If we shut down the digestive system and rest, the body will use its energy to begin healing itself. The very process of catabolism, in which the body seeks out non-essential tissue to use as fuels, will clear the body of viruses and bacteria, fibroid tumors, arthritic deposits, etc. It is not starvation. The body uses a very minimal amount of protein from muscle to fuel brain activity. The rest it will take from non-essential tissue until you have no fat remaining. Only when the body begins to look like a concentration camp citizen, will it actually be starving.
