Spent the day reading a book I downloaded off Soil and Health Library (www.soilandhealth.org/index.html).
Shelton, Herbet M. The Hygienic System, Vol. III, Fasting and Sun Bathing. San Antonio, Texas: Dr. Shelton's Health School, Third Revised Edition, 1950. First Published 1934.
"In his exhaustive study of therepeutic fasting, Shelton claimed: 'In more than thirty years of conducting fasts, I have conducted over twenty-five thousand fasts, ranging in duration from three days to more than two months. I have conducted about six fasts that have gone sixty or more days, the longest being sixty-eight days. I have had literally hundreds of fasts that have lasted from forty to fifty and more days.' Despite Shelton's possible overstatement of "twenty-five thousand," likely no one else has ever equalled his experience with fasting for the purpose of healing disease."
This is a great book, very interesting and filled with cases studies of his own patients and other doctors' patients. Water fasting for health was much more popular and accepted at the turn of the 20th century, and there are remarkable stories of recovery from every illness known to man...
Just to keep myself in gear, I "bounced" for 2 hours while reading, and took a 30 minute sunbath at noon. I feel awesome! Also had a glass of green water this morning, not to counter detox symptoms, not really for any good reason... Thank God, it did not seem to kick my hunger pangs back up again.
Got to get in the shower now. Going to listen to a minister tonight and maybe kick start the spiritual aspect of this cleansing fast into high gear!
More later...
