Day Eleven

A personal journey to health and freedom through water fasting

Well, it's THAT day again! The day when the scales and I meet eye to eye in mortal combat.

So, here goes:

Beginning weight: 242 lbs
Today's weight: 219.6 lbs
Total weight loss over 10 days: 22.4 lbs

Wonderful news! And as I sit here writing this, I am wearing a new pair of pants I have never been able to get on; a beautiful "dry clean only" pair that just hung boastfully in my closet, mocking me.

Now, I am not deluded to think this rate of weight loss will keep up the entire fast. I can see how the daily numbers are starting to drop a little, as my body begins to readjust my metabolism to a lower level. I have read that during long duration fasts the rate of loss should average around .5 lb to 1 lb per day. I am at an average of 1.24 lbs a day, so I may need to up the exercise as soon as I can to counter my body trying to tank my metabolism.

However, that might be more challenging than I am thinking at the moment. Today, I experienced a bout of brain fog, dizziness and near fainting. Not so bad when you're at home in bed, but this is Sunday morning. At the time, I was a rockin' and a rollin' in my church's gospel choir, under hot lights, and singing at the top of my lungs! It is always an aerobic workout! At one point I had to stop singing and just breathe, because I thought I was about to black out. Boy, that would be fun...Falling headfirst off a riser and fainting in front of 800 people...

Not.

Got my first uninterrupted night's sleep last night, for the first time in maybe 9 months. 6.5 beautiful hours! Hope this means my insominia is on the mend. Not getting enough hours of sleep each night is one of the leading causes of all types of infirmities, because your body does most of its detox and tissue repair at night when you are sleeping. Plus, it just wears you down mentally, emotionally and physically when you don't get your beauty sleep...

More later...
