Day Fifteen
A personal journey to health and freedom through water fasting

Slept like a baby all night, without waking up. So amazed. And as luck would have it, as I was reading this morning, I came across the following in Dr. Herbert Shelton's book, Fasting and Sunbathing: "A few patients sleep more while fasting than when eating. Insomnia victims are especially likely to do this. Fasting is perhaps the quickest and most satisfactory means of remedying insomnia, although there are cases in which it requires six to ten days to secure the sleep. Sinclair says, of his first fast: "I slept well throughout the fast."
Got my first comment on my weight loss last night. A lady from choir said, "You sure have lost alot of weight!!" Since I didn't want to deal with any long explanations or engage in a fasting debate, I laughed it off and said, "Yes, I'm finally shedding my winter coat..."
Choir director decided that this Sunday, the dress code for the choir is "all white". ALL WHITE?!!! Are you kidding me? I haven't worn "all white" since I was six. Even with my recent weight loss, I'm going to look like the Michelin Man...
After practice, someone bought a tray full of cupcakes for a celebration. I had to duck out of there before someone noticed I wasn't eating along with everyone else and started asking questions. Funny, I didn't regret missing the cupcakes, as much as I regretted not being able to stand around and talk with friends. THAT'S a switch for me...
Haven't noticed particularly bad breath for days. Wonder what that means. I'm certain I haven't gotten all the toxins out yet. Mmmm...
DID have a sudden zit pop up on my chin. I feel insensed. My zit days are over!! I paid my dues; I'm 43 years old, and I deserve to be zit free! Argh... Detox is so funny. Just when you think you've got it all figured out--zit happens...
Woke up this morning with a charlie horse in my right calf muscle that would not go away. For two hours, I tried stretching it, massaging it, relaxing it. Finally I admitted defeat and went and drank a glass of water with a pinch of Celtic Sea Salt in it. Muscle uncramped in about 30 minutes. (Cramp was probably caused by an excessive loss of potassium.)
Realized today my chronic sinus infection that I have have had for a couple of years now is all gone. It's totally dried up.
Also noticed that the third toe nail on my left foot, which had completely "spooned" in the last few years, has almost totally reformed into the proper convex shape. Hey, it's the little things in life that matter...
And finally, found out it's probably NOT my imagination about my eyes. I also read this today from Shelton's book:
"Visual defects: While it is no uncommon thing to see great and lasting improvement in vision develop during a fast, particularly during a long fast, there are somewhat rare instances in which there develops temporary weakness of vision. Carrington mentions what he regards as a "curious development" which he says may never be seen again. A patient saw double for a time just prior to breaking the fast. Two visual images were perceived instead of one. I have seen one or two such developments myself at the end of a very long fast. What is seen more often, but still only rarely, is weakness of vision, so that the faster can see but little. He is forced to discontinue reading, or his vision may become weaker, even, then this would indicate. Much of this seems to be due to a temporary loss of coordination between the two eyes, as they do not focus upon the object viewed. That no real injury to the nerves or mechanism of vision occurs is shown by the fact that the weakness and defect soon disappear after the fast is broken and vision is soon better than it was before the fast. I had one case in which this development occurred, in a man who had worn heavy lenses for years prior to the fast. After the fast was broken he was able to discard his glasses and got along without them. Another case is that of a woman who wore glasses but who saw double (without her glasses) before the fast, and regained normal vision while fasting. She was able to discard her glasses on the sixteenth day of her fast and could see to read, sew, thread needles, etc., without her glasses. She did not return to the use of glasses until about seven years later."
Tomorrow's the BIG DAY. Looking forward to getting on the scales again. (What a really odd thing for me to say...)
More later...
