Day Eighteen
A personal journey to health and freedom through water fasting
Date: 6/13/2010 3:25:40 PM ( 14 y ) ... viewed 1899 times It's rock and roll Sunday again. And again, I almost blacked out up on the riser with my choir in full swing. Not sure why I'm doing this... But, it wasn't so bad as last Sunday. I guess I have learned how to breathe deeply, unbuckle my knees and avoid the ole swan dive.
Afterward, I was just fine. Actually, the only other time I have felt faint during this fast is after crawling out of a very hot bath. Probably not the smartest thing to do (take a hot bath while fasting), but then again, what do I know...I just work here.
After church I decided to finish off my garden. Let no one tell you fasting makes you a weak invalid until you eat again! I am about the least physically fit person around, and after 18 days of fasting, I unloaded and carried 200 lbs of topsoil [that is, (5) 40lb bags] one hundred feet from my car to the garden. Granted, I can barely pick up my cat now, but that is a personal problem...
I'm so proud of my little garden. I have great hopes to be able to eat from it someday... ;o)
My garden is a combination of container and inground plants. I have herbs hanging from beautiful black metal Shepard's hooks, and have chives, basil, oregano, Italian parsley and spearmint growing. I love unusual, heirloom vegetables that you can't buy at the grocery store. I have 7 varieties of tomato plants (10 total plants), 3 varieties of cucumbers, 2 varieties of radishes, zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, spinach and mesclun lettuce, one lonely surviving blackberry cane, and an abundance of wild fox grapes hanging on the hedge border (which I just discovered to my delight, yesterday). This is all in a little patch of ground about 20x20 feet. Truth is, I could probably get in more with better planning and spacing. Maybe next year.
As you can imagine, I'm feeling a little drained today, so I think I'll go take a hot bath.
Hey, I'm always the risk taker.
More later...
