Your solution of taking bromide and the symptoms going away does not mean you had too much iodine.
It means your body was in withdrawal, adjusting to less bromide. Withdrawal is painful, maybe you were not ODed with Iodine at all... but have reached true sufficiency - and the body is adjusting to the new regime of Iodine being large and in charge.

Because when in withdrawal of heroin, taking in heroine will make the symptoms go away.
When in withdrawal of caffeine or nicotine, taking them in will make the withdrawal go away.
