Re: Calling all iodine mavens! "too much" iodine??
Molly,
I so relate to what you are saying. I tried to help my dad for so many
years when he got T-cell lymphoma, which affected his skin, as well as
his ability to fight off infection. In the end he died of a ruptured
duodenum from a gallstone, of all things. He refused to do any of the
things I suggested, and he was perfectly fine (except for the skin
lesions from the cutaneous t-cell lymphoma) till they started shoving
methotrexate down his gullet and then another class of drugs which
screwed up his liver/GB function and caused him to have gall bladder
issues. It was very hard to watch, as I loved my father more than anyone
in the world, and we lived together in the last 1 1/2 yrs. of his life.
I would have given up my life for him, I loved him so. He also had a
Ph.D. but in the humanities, not in the sciences. He was so stubborn,
impossible to get him to change his mind and try something different,
even though he knew the Western meds were not helping him. He hated
doctors and pills and surgery, but he totally feared anything alternative.
He regarded my periodic fasts and
colonic therapy bemusedly/amusedly,
but he accepted them because he accepted me as I was. It took his
oncologist to even get him to take vitamins!
Recently I visited my mother when I went to a family wedding, and had to
listen to her tales of what she has been through with her teeth (had to
have 'em all pulled), her feet (had her 3rd foot operation, this time they
removed a piece of bone and she has a sort of bootie which she must wear
indoors, no walking outdoors for her) and she is losing her vision due
to glaucoma. I don't even bother to mention anything alternative; she
was shocked when she found out I was doing a liver flush. I had to watch
my uncle, who had open heart surgery, take calcium pills--just what he
needs--NOT!! and he is on coumadin, too, and gets dizzy when he stands up
and has lost a ton of weight, has no appetite and his stomach is fussy.
He does not have a good quality of life left to him, at the age of 82.
I tell my sister about some of the things I am doing (I haven't gotten
into
Iodine yet) but not all of it, she just waits for me to stop my
sentence so she can change the subject and we can discuss something else.
I have told her I don't know how many times about probiotics, and how
she can reverse acid reflux without taking drugs, I was successful (for
once) in preventing her from going on HRT (she actually thanked me
that time, the one and only time she ever did for health-related advice),
liver flushes, on and on. She is probably going to have
Arthritis and
bone-loss issues just like my mom. She has already had 2 root canals;
I have had none (I am older). It's very frustrating, when you KNOW
you are on the right track, and you KNOW you could help them, if only.
Of course the closer you are to someone, the harder it is. A very
familiar CZ story, I'm sure.
Aren't Ohfor's posts great? I too love reading them!
