Re: Anyone have or heard of colonic inertia?
I am a 59 year old woman who has suffered for the past 10 months with
colonic inertia. I have had all the tests done, including zyst marker study, transenteric study, gastric emptying study. All led to the diagnosis of
colonic inertia. I have done a great deal of research on this problem and have seen numerous doctors. DO NOT EAT FIBER FOODS. Many doctors tell their patients with constipation to eat Fiber. But with
colonic inertia patients it is the worst thing you can do. I need to take some form of laxatives in order to go. I have been on many prescriptives drugs, Reglan,Erythiomycin, Zelnorm,Amitiza, and many more. None helped. The distention in my stomach makes me look five to six months pregnant. Some laxatives help for awhile and then they stop. Miralax was good but it causes more gas and stomach distention. I was taking 1000 mg. GNC magnesium and that worked for a lyear but then I noticed last April that I wasn't going to the bathroom and my stomach started to look pregnant. My kids thought it was funny 59 and looking pregnant. Not so funny. I am seeing a doctor that I really don't like (no bed side manner) but he is intelligent and knows about this problem. He wants now to do a anal rectal motility test. I am tested out- had cat scans, colonoscopy, endoscopy, mri, and the others I mentioned above. Not ready to talk surgery. There is a pill that top doctors can get from Canada. Not sure of the name. He doesn't want to give it to me yet until I have exhaused all laxatives. He told me to stay away from Senna products can ruin the lining of your colon. 1 Duculax does nothing for me, and 2 gives me diaharrea and cramps all day. I am going to try something by Nature's Way called Aloemaxlax. Anyone ever heard of it?
