Re: I don't consider minerals to be supplements

"Are we now not to trust the organic food industry?"

Some organic food is little better than conventional due to farming practices on organic farms. In addition, the Feds are constantly working to redefine "organic" and "natural". Today you can get a product labeled as "natural" loaded with hydrogenated oils, Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) colors and flavors...

Due to the state of air, water and soil today NO food is what it would have been 120 years ago, not one. We are getting Science and research based upon substandard foods and products, tested on mutant (we are not what we were 120 years ago) animals and humans.

No, I am afraid the only food you can trust without question would be that you grow or raise your self; even then can you ensure clean air, water and soil for the plants? That said, I realize many of us must do the best we can with what we got; I live in a big city too. :-)
