I didn't mean to imply that it is easy to lose weight, or that you are giving everyone the "go-ahead" on long fasts. I think I agree with you on several points, in fact it seems that among the different "opinions" voiced in this forum that there is a good bit of agreement, the main disagreement is approach.
As you said, some cautions are timely, and as even mike has pointed out, there is a place for weight loss and fasting. It doesn't hurt to point out to people inquiring about weight loss that there are some other ways that are *generally* more effective and easy, less drastic. So hopefully people will do their research!
I just wanted to attempt to clarify what true support is, people are welcome to give their own views on this subject.
