Re: You are a God-sent!
Dear Sanjay,
Most exciting! Neyyar Dam is a wonderful place. Please say hello to my friend Durga on staff there if you go.
The certificate meets the generally accepted criteria for number of hours of training etc. Though you will find there are really no rules and regulations governing yoga teachers in any country. There are many people currently teaching with "cracker jack box" certificates as I call them. It all comes out in the wash, and I believe students can soon tell those with a true understanding of yoga from those who don't. The Sivananda Siromani certificate is very reputable. I believe it is the first formal yoga teachers training program devised. In some countries there are bodies that you apply to once you have teaching certification to be listed with them as a CYT (certified yoga teacher). I have never done this because I've not found it necessary, but I have made copies of my certificates and I generally supply these in new teaching situations or upon request.
Oh, my french is dismal, despite years of study. We don't speak it in Toronto. In Quebec, yes. I have studied Spanish and Sanskrit, and am working on Hindi. A good dose of Bollywood films being my main teacher here!
Yes, let's keep in touch.
Pranams,
Janaki
