I can imagine many doctors wouldn't want chemotherapy. The essential thing is that the patients should have the information given to so they can make their own choice. Some people want all possible treatments, whether or not they are likely to be successful. As I say I didn't want my mother to have any - which agrees with your point. If my child (I don't have any yet) had acute leukaemia then I would want chemotherapy.
