I appreciate your kind condolences. Yes we can agree about cancer, a terrible, terrible illness.
I don't have to make decisions about chemotherapy, but hopefully all oncologists are as good as this one. Having said that I probably got more information than the average person. I err towards stark honesty as much as possible - it enables the person to make their own mind up about what treatment they have.
There is an unconscious tendency for say surgeons to offer surgery. It is not necessarily motivated by profit as in the UK most surgery is done on the NHS. It's more a matter of consumer pressure and the "if I had a hammer" syndrome.
