your post seems very familiar,as if i have seen the exact post before.perhaps i am reading too much.you say god is in control and you say well,for that is very true.
you mention that people bring different understandings to this forum.this can be good as well as bad.first and formost we must always bear in mind pro.9:10 "the fear (awe,respect)of the lord is the begining of wisdom,and the knowledge of the holy one is understanding."
in order to accomplish this we must have god's holy spirit.how does one receive god's holy spirit?this comes after baptism and repentance,i want go through the whole thing,because the most important thing is found in acts 5:32 "and we are his witnesses to these things,and also is the holy spirit whom god has given to those who obey him".so you can plainly see that the holy spirit is only given to those that obey god. this requires action on behalf of the believer.most christians today want to get by, just by saying they believe. they are right in believeing,but that is only part of the story. remember the h/s(understanding)is given only to those who obey.
