Re: Very clear but still confused
Personally, I believe that faith must have a foundation. I base everything on the Bible, so it's really important to me that the Bible has so much evidence to support it. I've studied many religions and they're all the same-- salvation by works, a cold and impersonal god, and a sacred text that is not supportable by history or science.
But the Bible is the only text that, in spite of intense examination over the centuries, has passed every test. As an ancient document, the Bible has no equal in terms of archaeological support and historical accuracy. It is unique in its view of God, who is portrayed as being loving and forgiving. Its impact on history and individual lives is unmatched by any other.
With this firm foundation, I can trust what the Bible says. It says that all I have to do to get to heaven is put my faith in Jesus to save me, instead of myself. We can never pay enough to get to heaven, so God paid the price for us. All we have to do is ask for this free gift. When you compare this to other religions, it really isn't much to ask. What have you got to lose, except uncertainty?
