Re: Urinary pH

I can't find the reference right now to show you, but I'll keep looking.

As I understand it (not a doctor, hearsay, yadda yadda), urine pH should be in the 6 range, but can vary between 4.5ish and 8ish, depending on when one has eaten, what one has eaten, etc. While the stomach is trying to draw acid from the body to digest food, urinary pH should increase toward 7; just before a meal (especially breakfast), it could be in the 5-6 range.

Persistent pH above 7, particularly near 8, with that ammonia / cat-urine smell, indicates (not a doctor, hearsay, yadda yadda) that ammonia is being used by the body to correct an acid imbalance. Alkaline minerals would be (assuming this is correct) the quick fix for this problem. An alkalizing diet would be another.

Now, that's the theory I've heard. I can't promise you it's true.

What I can tell you is that, by diligently adding multiminerals and digestive enzymes to my diet, I no longer have ammonia-smelling urine. One or the other by themselves did not work.
