What Comes First?

I think there is room for some good discussion on this forum about some serious topics. Here is something I am curious about. I believe most if not all of us accept that a healthy, balanced body will tend to be in the neutral pH range, of course, some organs are supposed to be acid. I would be willing to concede, although I do not know that this is a proven fact, that in the presence of illness the body tends to be more acidic. The question is-what came first, the illness or the acidity?

I find it quite preposterous to believe that acidity can be blamed for every ailment from the common cold to diabetes to cancer. There are other factors that have been shown to be the cause. However, was the causative factor, say a rhino virus causing a cold, able to make an individual sick because he was acidic, or did that individual become acidic while dealing with the ailment. Many diabetics become acidic to a dangerous extent even when their diet is near perfect, my late nephew fought ketone acidosis most of his short life. When I had a bad cold a while back I had just gotten interested in the pH factor and health. I had gotten my pH up mostly through using green drinks, ACV and sorghum. When I got sick, my pH went down to about 6, it stayed there until I was well. I did decide to try the mega dose of vitamin C, which should have lowed my pH even more according to some sources, but, I stayed the same and the cold went away quickly with the C treatment.

I wonder if two people with similar health issues both began improving their health the same day, which would show the most and quickest progress? One that did the typical liver, bowel and kidney cleanses and went on a clean healthy diet, or one who did no cleanses, but simply used an alkalizing drink and ate only alkaline foods? My guess would be the person who cleared his body from old toxins would show the most improvement, but I might be wrong. Does proper pH automatically create good health, or does good health insure the presence of a proper pH?
