Re: calling all meat eaters!
I'm just getting into this and have not eaten raw meat -- still working on rare. Apparently, once raw meat is eaten, then the taste for cooked meat disappears. It would be nice to find a board where there is more activity and more experience. I did put a note on the other Paleo board last evening about the
Tapeworms and
parasites -- if one lacks the enzyme-mutations to eat certain cooked green and red foods then there could be problems.
Also, in reading We Want To Live, it is the enzymes in the raw meat that are the reason for eating it raw. Apparently, eating raw onions with the meat will get rid of the
parasites that might be there; also, caffeine seems to weaken and cause decaying of tissues --
parasites would move in there to devour that bad tissue. Antibiotic-free, hormone-free, pasture-fed beef is the best (and that is the only beef from which to eat the organs). Next, would be antibiotic-free, hormone-free beef that is not pasture-fed beef.
I got a DVD from
http://www.hilarion.com on which Jill Fox shows how she prepares several meat recipes as well as others. She cuts the meat up into small pieces and mixes it with various things and then fills jars to the top and keeps them in the fridge over a period of days.
Are you consuming the fats that are recommended in The Primal Diet? These help the nerves; Aajonus Vonderplanitz recommends 40% RAW fats every day -- that is where I am at the moment -- enjoying raw cream, raw butter, raw milk and raw eggs. While being lean and mean may be suitable in some instances, buff and gentle is great, too.
:)
Raw, unheated honey is also an essential to this way of eating with lots of green juices. The Primal Diet is not just about raw meat (which regenerates the cells); it is about getting the most enzymes from raw foods to keep the body's systems functioning at the highest level.

I have his recipe book as well as his story. Although the difference between eating cooked meat and eating raw meat is all in the head, it seems to be a big obstacle for me. I would be very interested in your early experience on this aspect.
Kindest thoughts.
