Re: Sorry Lynne our posts crossed and P.S.
I would like to add that yes,
Sugar probably feeds candida and tons of fruit may allow it to grow some. However I'm a true believer that candida overgrowth is *mainly* occuring because of underlying conditions in the body....not because you ate an apple.
I was way more symptomatic..actually I wasnt able to get out of bed and I was on disability for 2 years. I had all the candida symptoms and I dont doubt for one second that I didnt have more candida then I would have had when I was healthy. Treating the candida wasnt the answer though because I'm doing sooo much better off the diet...only because I know the underlying cause and avoid what will harm me and cause symptoms. I think I probably still have abnormal candida levels in my body but I dont think going back on the diet is going to change that. I think as my body/intestines continues to heal my immune system will take care of candida. I realize this because I'm eating plenty of carbs and fruits and my "bad" symptoms are not returning. I am not getting brainfog, depression, fatigue, joint pains etc..it seems those symptoms were never from candida. The only thing I've changed is taking all gluten out of my system...including lipstick or lotion or anything that can get into my mouth. This is obviously not the answer for everyone but just an indication that candida *may* not be the cause of your symptoms...you could be missing something and putting the blame on candida, following the diet, taking antifungals....may not cure you.
The only symptoms I have now are
food sensitivities , chemical sensitivies, and fluid retention. No pain at this time and I'm working full time for 1 month now...and loving it. I dont fear what the next day will bring anymore. I finally feel stable. I believe my remaining symptoms are due to leaky gut. I'm sure the leaky gut was caused by autoimmune response to gluten and candida was allowed to overgrow at that time. I'm sure
Antibiotics did not help matters. I will take probiotics and I feel my immune system (as my body heals) will control candida. I don't eat refined sugars and junky foods (except cocoa pebbles and cool whip) but I eat tons of fruit everyday, jam and honey. Why when I was on the candida diet was I not even able to eat 1 green apple w/out symptoms? Probably because I hadnt figured out my underlying cause and gluten was still affecting me and the state of my gut.
