Re: What if you can't find/afford organic? PLS help!
Thanks for your response pepe! The problem is, my hubby is a big meat/cooked food eater and is dead set against changing that so even if I can convert my children, I will still have to buy the meat for my husband, so trading organic for meat cost-wise won't make a difference. And where I live, not only is organic expensive, it's rare. The only things I can even find organic around here as far as produce is carrots and
Celery :(.
I'm looking into a dehydrator for fruits and veggies. Mostly fruits. My kids are
Sugar freaks and if I can make them "candy" with fruit, it may be an easier conversion. I looked for dried fruit in the health store, but they add
Sugar to all of it! I think fruit is sweet enough and don't see why they need to add sugar. I've already bought carbonated water that I mix with fresh juice (occassionally) to compensate for their soda withdrawal (very heavy into soda pop, but have curbed that a lot now!)
We have been doing some
juicing and the kids really like it. I always wash then peel anything not organic. I guess you are right, eating more fruits and veggies is better than not just because of cost/availability. I'll just do the best I can do for now and look forward to the farmer's markets and fresh produce stands in the summer :)
Thanks again!
