Re: What if you can't find/afford organic? PLS help!

Marnie just do the best you can. You will be doing mayor things for your families health just by cutting out most flower, Sugar and dairy and just junk food in general. Also another biggie is drinking 1/2 oz of water per pound of bodyweight daily.

Have you really sat down and done a comparison between the cost of meat and buying organic veggies. Meat is very expesinve and you may find that the difference money wise won't be as bad as you think.

Don't overlook the veggie juicicng I sugested to you before. That
in itself could be the greatest single thing you can do to improve your families health and making sure everyone is well nurished. Another biggie is make sure that your family is getting some healthy fats (EFA) which is usually one of the most overlooked aspects of a vegetarian diet. Prolly the most economic way to get those EFAs is with Flax Seed oil and or Olive oil. There are more balanced oils out there but those can be expensive. Do a little reading on EFAs Barleans.com has lot of info and so does udoschoice.com . Specially when transitioning from meat the healthy fats will help with their hunger. Also there are many vitamins that are only fat soluble .

I might suggest that to gradually make the transition with your family to raw that you consider cooked grain based dishes at first in additon to raw foods. The grains will tend to give folks transitioning from a meat diet more of that feeling of fullness they've come to associate with being satisfied when they eat meat. Check out some books on Macrobiotic cooking as that revolves around a grain based diet.
