Re: Traumatic Brain Injury - treatments that helped me. PART 1

OCTOBER 2018

AVOCADO

Several months ago, I realised my thinking had become sluggish. Was my brain injury getting worse? This caused me a great deal of worry. I searched my brain for answers. One answer: I'd cut avocado from my diet due to the cost (I'm struggling financially).
I've now resumed consumption of avocado. Sometimes one avocado per week, or, maybe, up to three avocados in a fortnight. The difference is subtle but I am improved.

I would urge those with brain injuries to eat avocado as often as possible. I firmly believe avocadoes contain a very good combination of fats and oils...and that these fats and oils feed the brain.

HERBAL CAPSULES: CHRISTOPHER (brand). MIND TRAC (name of product).

I recently tried these capsules. The first day, I took four capsules. That was too much. They are quite strong. I felt slightly unwell but no major problems.

After some experimentation, I now take 2-3 capsules, perhaps once per fortnight. (They CAN be taken every day). I bought them from iHerb, online. They were delivered to Australia within a week.

Results: from time to time I experience a burst of clear brain function. For example, in one evening I was able to complete several hours of paperwork (opening mail and catching up on written tasks). I could have sat there all night doing paperwork. My brain worked like a well-oiled machine. This was in direct contrast to my usual struggle with all forms of paperwork, since incurring a brain injury.

If I were to take these capsules more often, I might get even better results. (I'm taking a lot of other remedies for other health issues, and I don't want to "overload" on things that are strong and have a powerful effect). "Slow and steady wins the race".

PROBIOTICS AND BRAIN FUNCTION

I had been regularly eating yoghurt, or kefir, and I've taken probiotics capsules.

I stumbled upon an article. It describes the results of a study that found the following: people taking probiotics experienced digestive issues and mental sluggishness.

One of the things that appeared to be causing my mental sluggishness (during the last few months) was probiotics.

The article:

Probiotic use is a link between brain fogginess, severe bloating
Date: August 6, 2018. Source: Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University

I stopped eating yoghurt (only small amounts, now)and stopped eating kefir. I also discovered the kefir I was buying had been manufactured using kefir grains AND added probiotic strains. So, it wasn't proper kefir, anyway. Within two weeks,my mental sluggishness decreased noticeably.
