Re: Do You Have to Speak in Tongues to Be Saved?

I see nothing wrong with your post either. Of course, it is clear in the Bible that God loves us and draws us, but it is also clear in the Bible that He desires us to seek Him. If talking in tongues is not your way, I have no problem with that. The Bible even says that not all speak in tongues. Really, obeying Him and seeking to fulfill our destiny in Him may have little to do with speaking in tongues. Of course, it can if we do not do this when He wants us to do it. We are then in disobedience to Him.

In the end, your other post to me gave me the impression that you were trying to convince me that speaking in tongues is fantasy. If you believe speaking in tongues is fantasy, you have a false belief. I am not trying to get you to seek tongues. The recent discussion started out of the false belief that some have, that you need to speak in tongues to be saved. Then there are also other false beliefs about tongues that go to the opposite extreme. All these false beliefs are damaging to people. I was simply trying to post against the opposite beliefs.

I am not going to renounce tongues just so I can fit into your beliefs, Vektek's beliefs, Justin Peter's beliefs, John MacArthur's beliefs and others. The only beliefs that I want to believe are the beliefs of God.

We do have a part. God does not do everything for us. We are given choices. We make them everyday. We do have to make decisions. I know this is against the beliefs of some Christians, but read the Bible to see which beliefs are really biblical. You can scream that you get your beliefs from reading the bible forever, but it will not make it true if you have it all twisted up. Many of these false beliefs come from listening to false Bible teachers who are experts at twisting scripture. They teach that their views are the most biblical. I'm glad I do not need to depend on them. I have the Holy Spirit. If I really want to be close to God I have to do something.

"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8
