Re: Gift of healing...

It's true she does not believe in the office of "Healer". But she does believe in healing in general.

In defense of some churches however, I do want to say, even though we don't have individuals that seem more gifted than others, we do follow scripture where it tells us to bring our sick to the elders of the church and let them pray and lay hands on them.

We believe that all these elders have been gifted in all the areas God wants them to be gifted because they have had hands laid on them and prayers for their success of office. Do you have to be an elder of a church to be gifted? No. I think God can choose any person He wishes to be anointed in this area. That being said, I don't let just anyone lay hands on me. I know the people of my own church leadership. I have been with them for years, so there is no strange unknown person that I have not had time to discern better.

One time I went to a friends pentecostal church to be prayed for, and I was not happy with one of the leadership members there. I was afraid he would step up and want to lay hands on me and I didn't want to make a big scene in front of everyone. I was so happy when another leader who I actually knew ahead of time, came to bless me.

Scripture in 1 Timothy 5 says 22 Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.

The hasty laying on of hands can go both ways. Either praying for people who should not be put into the office of the church...or someone allowing a person who is not living for the Lord to lay hands on us.

Right before that scripture it tells us this...

19 Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. 20 But those elders who are sinning you are to reprove before everyone, so that the others may take warning.

So I think it is important that we know the people we are talking about...good or bad. Of course these are instruction for use in a congregation of steadfast believers, not a christian forum where we don't know each other that well.

I don't think any of us would want someone with the Kundalini spirit on them to lay hands on us. But how many people do we know that let long lines of people lay hands on them? Knowing nothing about them. So sometimes sticking to biblical protocol may be necessary...not because it is Spirit quenching.
